The fees around in football these days are pure stupid anyway, and these clubs will still make a profit despite all the outlay. Pogba at £89m was stupid but then he's probably already paid for himself in sponsorship and merchandise sales, so if they got a decent market to sell in they'll make their money back easily.

For Perisic, £40m sounds about right in this inflated market when selling to English teams. There are probably cheaper alternatives out there, however he's got experience at the top level which is what Jose wants. I know Anderson Talisca has been linked too, but he's not a winger and doesn't have that top level experience.

Yes they went to Preston and Bury.

Apparently 250k for McGeady and 500k for Vaughan, smashing business, now just need more.

Jose is saying Zlatan could return in January

Milan have signed Bonucci....they've assembled a decent squad under their new owners, probably favourites for Serie A.

On the money topic, Sky have done a most expensive XI based on their transfer fees alone...

GK - Ederson (£34.7m to Man City)
RB - Kyle Walker (£50m to Man City)
CB - David Luiz (£50m to PSG)
CB - John Stones (£50m to Man City)
LB - Luke Shaw (£28m to Man Utd)
RW - Angel Di Maria (£59.7m to Man Utd)
CM - Paul Pogba (£93.25m to Man Utd)
CM - James Rodriguez (£63m to Real Madrid)
LW - Gareth Bale (£85.3m to Real Madrid)
ST - Gonzalo Higuain (£75.3m to Juventus)
ST - Cristiano Ronaldo (£80m to Real Madrid)

    Subs:
GK - Gigi Buffon (£32.6m to Juventus)
DF - Shkodran Mustafi (£35m to Arsenal)
MF - Kaka (£59m to Real Madrid)
MF - Kevin De Bruyne (£54.5m to Man City)
MF - Zinedine Zidane (£47.2m to Real Madrid)
ST - Romelu Lukaku (£75m to Man Utd)
ST - Luis Suarez (£65m to Barca)

Crazy money...and I bet some of these records get broken next summer.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Milan are basically playing Football Manager in assembling a squad. And that doesn't even really work in FM all that well anymore. its an impressive collection of talent, but additions en masse often take time to gel so I'm not so convinced they will be an immediate force. I mean, Inter made a bunch of additions last summer that were supposed to push them up to Juve's level.... and look how that turned out. Its a weird sale by Juventus, though. Power play be the manager for sure.

Rumor going around that Bakayoko failed his medical and got sent back to Monaco. Probably just a Twitter rumor but a fun twist if its true.

Bakayoko has a knee injury at the moment doesn't he? So he probably wouldn't have passed a full medical given that injury.....unless the injury is worse than the rumoured September return.

Can't believe that Juve have sold Bonucci. Out of their 3 'rocks' he was the youngest at 30, with Chiellini turning 33 next month and Barzagli just turned 36 in May. Milan are indeed assembling an impressive squad on paper though.

I've seen reports that Inter have asked United about Martial's availability. Hope that nothing comes of that.

I'd be more than happy to see Zlatan return to United in January, or whenever he returns from injury. I think United are doing the smart thing by playing the waiting game with him. Could be a welcome mid-season boost if nobody picks him up and then he returns to us in Janurary though.

crazy to think that juventus sold one of their best players to a rival since it's usually the other way round. Anyway now bonnuci has joined the list of players who have played for both ac and inter.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Not a new signing per say but Sergio Romero has signed a new 4 year deal at United.
I saw plenty of fans give him stick for not being good enough when he signed but he's proven himself to be a very reliable deputy to De Gea and IMO he's performed superbly every time when called upon. I'm looking around the other PL squads and I don't see any other team who have a pair of goalkeepers of the same standard as United. De Gea's arguably the best keeper in the world and Romero would walk into most other PL teams. City are the only other team that may have 2 keepers of similar quality, though Bravo struggled badly last season as we saw. If De Gea was to leave I'd be keen for Romero to be given a chance to be our #1. He's certainly good enough to do that.

There can't be many that have played for both Milan teams and Juventus though?

The three that came straight to me were Edgar Davids, Andrea Pirlo and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Bit of digging added Roberto Baggio, Christian Vieri and Patrick Vieira to the list. Not bad at all.

I've learned some minutes ago, that there is a rumor going around here in Germany, that Thomas Müller could fancy a transfer to Liverpool. Sounds interesting.

Well, there was some talk when they signed James Rodriguez it was to replace Muller. Don't really buy it, but....

pretty sure he's joining Celtic tbh it makes sense

Steven Caulker to Celtic looks like it's going to happen. Brendan using his connections once more. Hope he can do a good job. Seems to have lost some hype.

I don't think that James is a replacement for Muller, they're different players. Byern would be mad to get rid of Muller anyway. I know he's had a poor season by his standards but I'm sure he'll come back stronger. One of the best attacking players around, would happily have him at United if he was available.

Mueller leaving Germany would be an interesting one. Not sure if he'd have the game to stick with the pace of the Premiership though...but it could be carnage if he could haha.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

    Depends on Muller's mindset really.

Lewandowski will be the main forward, Thiago the main playmaker with James Rodriguez and Robben the likely wide players. After that he's likely rotating minutes and competing with Tolisso, Ribery and Coman for game time.

The only reason for him to leave is to be a guaranteed starter.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

James is probably going to be more like the 10 on the pitch, directly behind Lewandowski, where normally Müller is set. All in all, it's very unlikely he'll go anywhere, but if he has another not so great year or doesn't get too much time on the pitch, he could for sure end up in England next summer.

    Re: Transfer Talk Thread

Muller is a much more versatile player than James IMO. James is a wide attacking midfielder who can also play in the middle while Muller can play on either wing, in the middle in support or as the front man. Much better overall player IMO too. I rate Muller very highly and I think if he did leave (which he easily could since he won't be happy not being 1st choice) then whoever gets him are getting a very good player. I think he'd be absolutely fine in the PL if he came over.
