    BTB Legends

    **BTB LEGENDS**

Look how special this thread looks, truly a thread fitting of the finest Bookers to ever grace WrestlingClique.com…………what’s that you say, it looks exactly like all the other threads? Screw you!

The word legend is tossed around too easily these days, so much so that it’s losing its true meaning, but perhaps on this forum will can install some sense of order to the word Legend.

Every year, two of the best bookers on WC will be nominated by their peers as a BTB Legend and will be inducted in this Hall of Fame type thread. Members of the section were asked to vote for the three bookers who have impressed them the most over the years through their fantastic writing and valued contributions to the section overall. Their entire back catalogue of projects will be linked on an individual post so fans of their recent work can go back and discover old classics with relative ease.

The thread will remained closed as it is supposed to serve purely as an index, should you wish to comment on the writer’s work, get in contact with them through PMs or VMs, or alternatively talk about it in the Fan Fiction Discussion Page. DO NOT bump up the dead threads unless you want a trip to infraction land.

    BIG PAPA

Had the BTB Legends award been around years ago, we probably could have inducted Big Papa, in 2010 on the back of his hugely successful WCW 2002: Rebuilding the Empire thread, probably the best BTB in the history of WC at that point. A year on, Papa reworked his classic lets rebuild WCW storyline to create WCW Empire, now the stand alone biggest BTB in WC history, and it really deserves that accolade. At a time when writing full length shows were in fashion, Papa bucked the trend and brought back his usual monthly updates, a wise move that saw him book about 2 years of Empire in the space of 6 months. I don't think there's ever been a BTB more loved outside of the BTB circle, it's pretty much the only reason Ken comes into the section these days!, and when Jim says he'll ban Papa if he quits, you know you're writing something great.

Papa is one of the finest writers in Wrestling Clique history, and has a BTB of the year to his name. Now you can enjoy his entire collection for the one off price of rep made out to Ed.

    DIABLO

    Diablo
may well be just the greatest reviewer this section has ever known, of course I'm biased as he helped me out a bunch at the start, but he's prepared to give anyone constructive criticism and he has done over the years. Of course, he's a pretty good writer as well, he had a few BTBs that didn't go far at the start, but he really hit his stride with TNA: Immortal, a BTB that started directly after Bound For Glory 10.10.10 and the formation of Immortal. The BTB won Diablo two BTB of the month awards and looked the hot contender for BTB of the year, sadly Diablo took one of his now infamous hiatus', the diary was closed and some guy called Ed took up the mantle. He returned to booking during the Summer of Punk II and created Miseria Cantare, a BTB purely on the CM Punk storyline. It was great, but sadly it didn't last long enough and Josh took another hiatus, and I was a sad panda. He returned once again towards the end of the year and created The Monday Night Wars II, but that never got off the ground and he put BTB on the shelf until his passion for writing returns. Could 2012 see Diablo kicking ass in BTB again?, time will tell, but for now his entire BTB collection will be on display to enjoy over and over again.

    GOD

Some have argued that God should have made it in first, after all, he is the creator of everything in existence, which by default includes the BTB section. Few others have given more time to this section than Daren who was running the show in here long before some guy named hbk2nWo decided to join Wrestling Clique. As a writer, reviewer and moderator, God always made his presence felt in the section (who doesn't get a little giddy when they receive a silent God rep!), and I think we can all agree it's great to have him back booking again. Hell if it wasn't for his sway with the boss, DD, there wouldn't even be a section!

Whether you enjoyed reading his many TNA BTBs where he books the company that is closet to his heart, or whether you feel his best work was his ROH diary, still to this date the most successful indy BTB on these forums, you can relive them all over again with this handy index.

    ED

So I'm three months late on this induction, but better late than never. Now I'm not one to toot my on horn, so here's what the first BTB Legend, Big Papa, has to say about me

"With apologies to a few others in the BTB section (myself included), no one sums up the idea of a "BTB Legend" more than the man once known as HBK2NWO, aka Ed. Because not only has Ed delivered a couple of great, much-loved projects to us but he has quite simply done more to nurture and grow this small community within the greater WC community than anyone else. Whether its providing advice and guidance to follow writers, running the montly BTB of the Month, or putting together a fun one-off project like the recent Road to WrestleMania, Ed has meant the world to this section. Once he was made the moderator of the BTB section, Ed did well enough to become a SMOD, overcoming the obvious handicap of having registered on WC with once of the worst user-names imaginable. So great work, Ed, and keep it up. You legend, you."

Your cheque is in the post Papa.

    THE NATURAL

99 times out of 100, bookers in this section improve over time, build on every mistake or failed project and strive to make sure the next BTB is their best work yet. However there's one booker who managed to hit a home run with his first project and not only that, set the benchmark for everyone else to live up to. In 2010 (aka the dark ages before Ed took over), The Natural posted 'TNA - The Natural Approach'; exquisitely written, beautifully presented and to this day remains one of the greatest threads ever to grace the section. He took a hiatus of over a year, and came back with The Natural Approach 2 where he moved on from TNA to tackle the biggest job in the world, booking the WWE. It was short lived, but he clearly hadn't lost his touch as he created some killer shows rolling towards Wrestlemania 28. Personally, Natty will forever in my eyes be the best writer we've ever had, and is my biggest inspiration as a booker.

Perhaps one day he'll return to give us 'The Natural Approach 3', but until then, relive his previous two projects and marvel at their greatness.

    SHADE

Shade is perhaps the most committed writer in the BTB section, his current thread Pro Wrestling R has been going for over three years and has amassed the highest posts total of any thread in BTB history, obliterating the record I previously held. In 2014 he should pass the 1,000 post mark all being well which will be a landmark occasion for the forum. Shade is also known for his unorthodox rosters, shunning the WWE stars that we all know for the lesser known talents, his Pro Wrestling R roster is a whos-who of independent wrestling, and it's testament to his wrestling knowledge that he writes them all so well. But it's not just his wrestling BTB where he's made a name for himself, Shade has arguably been the best poster in the often overlooked 'Non-Wrestling BTB' section, home to his projects on MMA fighting and now a TV series, Rogue. Shade is certainly not a 1 trick pony when it comes to his writing.

So here's to you Shade, the 6th BTB Legend

    EGOFANTASTICO

Wrestling Clique has been home to some terrific writers over the years; masters of enthralling match write ups, captivating promos and engaging angles. However the one problem that the section suffers from, and this applies to the majority of the fine writers in this thread, is consistency. Either writers give up on their projects too early so their vision is never fully realised, or it takes them 3 months to write a show, the project moves at a snail's pace, and so again their vision is never fully realised. However, one guy who has been a beacon of consistency since 2012 and has seen his vision fully realised is Egofantastico. Whilst many writers take on the tempting challenge of booking TNA and making them a million times better than their real life self, Ego has actually succeeded in writing TNA for so long (2 and a half years and counting) that it is unrecognisable from the company he started booking, it is very much HIS vision of what TNA could of been and long story short, it's a lot better than how 2006-2009 turned out for them. 'A Victory Road Not Taken' proved to be such a hit that it won the BTB of the Year Award not only in his rookie year of 2012, but in 2013 as well. In 2013 he tried his hand at a MMA project, and whilst it didn't prove to be the home run his wrestling BTB was, it still lasted a lot longer than many MMA BTBs.

Without further ado, here's Ego's bibliography featuring the two time BTB of the Year winning 'A Victory Road Not Taken'. If you have a spare month, perhaps you'll be able to finish it.

    WILLIS

Probably the biggest surprise since I started the BTB Legends in 2011 is just how long it's taken for this inductee to take his rightful place in this thread, I mean, have you heard the guys Health Slater impression? Uncanny. Seriously though, long before the Ego's and the Shade's and even the Ed's, Willis was one of the busiest members in the BTB section having been a regular writer since 2009. It's astonishing that it's taken one of the original old school members this long to get in despite still being an active member of the section, but after consecutive 4th, 3rd and 2nd place finishes in the last three polls, finally the former Mr. Willis topped the vote in December 2014. In his 5+ years in the section, Willis has posted 15 BTBs, but more incredibly almost half of those BTB's amassed more than 100 posts, a feat no other writer has managed in the section's history. Willis has booked a variety of different projects in his time here such as WWE across multiple eras, TNA, ROH, ECW, NWA, Individual wrestler BTBs and even a zombie apocalypse TV show called Aftermath, which goes to show his breadth as a writer. Just don't be surprised to see Chris Jericho pop up in his threads, regardless of which promotion he's writing~!

Better late than never, here's to you Willis, the 8th Wrestling Clique BTB Legend

    SYKOTIC

To some members of this forum, Sykotic is that member who annoyingly keeps coming out on top of the WWE PPV predictions league; even if you got a good score you can bet your bottom dollar Syko even got the Divas match right and claims top spot in the league. To others, he's that member who annoyingly drafts Chelsea's entire squad into his fantrax team, dominates the league all season and no-one can catch him. Catch my drift? the guy has a pretty good record of winning things on this site. However in the BTB Section, success has not come easy to Sykotic who started his current project not long after signing up with WrestlingClique 3 and a half years ago. Sykotic committed the cardinal sin at the start of his thread of lumping TNA wrestlers into WWE with no backstory, but like any good booker, he made it work over time, and with constant improvements to his writing his thread became an enjoyable read for years. The pinnacle was undoubtedly his Wrestlemania which was posted earlier in 2015, headlined by a project defining feud between John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler.

It took him until July 2013 to win his first BTB of the Month, but his big success came in the 2014 BTB Awards where he grabbed FOUR of the awards on offer; no member has ever earned a haul that big in our awards history. One of the awards he won that night describes Sykotic perfectly; 'Section Contributor of the Year'. It's a safe bet that Sykotic has probably given out more reviews of other people's work than anyone else ever has, and we're not talking one sentence posts like 'loved the show, now review me in return', his reviews are detailed, section by section, match by match paragraphs which speaking from personal experience are an utter joy to receive. It's unselfish work like this which is the lifeblood of our section, it's the reason our activity levels are higher than any other forum in this field, and Sykotic has set the bar in that concern.

So welcome to the BTB Legends Syko, how appropriate that you come out on top the same year your beloved Chelsea win the title.

FIFA 13 - Destiny, Fate, Survival

FIFA 12 - Blue Is The Colour - 2012-13 Season

    BALDWIN

Most BTB members become Legends purely through the strength of their writing and having successful projects that last for years and 100's of posts and win a multitude of awards. However others become inducted through less selfish endeavours, like reviewing shows or encouraging people's work or making sure the section is running smoothly for all members. For Baldwin, he is definitely an example of the latter. By his own admission Baldwin hasn't had the greatest of success in keeping his writing projects alive. During his time on WrestlingClique he has started 14 projects, and only 2 out of those 14 survived past the infamous 30 posts marker, with one of them being his best work, his 2009 ECW thread. I think there's little doubt that Baldwin is a talented writer, it's just that for one reason or another the projects die off too quickly.

Baldwin finds himself inducted to the BTB Legends through his work for the community, most notably his work as moderator of the BTB Section. In November 2013 Baldwin joined the staff team on WC and took over the BTB Section from myself after my promotion to Admin, and I always thought of him as my apprentice. I like to think I did a good job looking after the section from 2011-2013, but when Baldwin came into the job, he really made it his own and did a better job than I had previously done. He ran the monthly and annual BTB awards, produced the infrequent interviews and roundtables, made sure every member was adhering to the section's rules, produced graphics for other writers, wrote a lot of reviews, and perhaps the biggest job he undertook was creating the King of BTB Tournament. Baldy had the patience of a saint to put up with the amount of organising, reviewing and bullshit that the tournament has generated for the last 3 years and all that work was for the benefit of the BTB community. It's no wonder he had no time for his individual writing projects when his spare time was so tied up with working on the moderator side of things. A few months ago Baldwin stepped down from being a staff member on the site, so it's only appropriate that his retirement is commemorated with his induction.

Welcome to the BTB Legends Baldwin, thanks for the hard work. Now marvel at your many, many, many projects

    ORDER

OrderDX joined the BTB Section in May 2013 after leaving his old stomping ground with WhiteRhyno333. He quickly created his on again, off again WWE 2010 project 'WWE: The New Vision' that is still going today, won the coveted BTB of the Year award in 2014 and is in the top 10 most read and most viewed BTB's in this website's history. A thread that I always remember for keeping the Jack Swagger main event run alive. His love of sport led him to a string of sport related non-wrestling BTB's, but those never get much traction. Perhaps his greatest claim to fame was producing the section's most successful BTB, a trio joint effort no less with Order, Jon Snow and White Rhyno combining to form the infamous SnowWhiteOrder (sWo) complete with their matching New Day avatars. They won a BTB of the month in July 2015 and did over 120 replies which to this old sage of BTB considers the best ever for a joint project; if you know any better, send me a postcard to correct me. His years of solid writing caught the eye of the section's members in 2015 when he was voted Writer of the Year at the end of year awards.

Writing is only one string to Order's bow, he has also been voted Section Contributor in the past as he has always been keen to review and critique other people's work for unselfish reasons, a role model to many. In recent years he's been climbing the staff ladder here at WrestlingClique and in November 2015, Order took over from Baldwin as the 3rd lord commander of the Night's Watch BTB section moderator. I'd say he's done a bang up job in keeping everything organised, running the awards and King of BTB tournament, conducting interviews and banning troublemakers. It's got to the point where I don't even need to look at this section anymore because I know Order's got the ship sailing smoothly.

For his combined successes in writing and staffing, Order is today belatedly inducted as the 11th BTB Legend.

    Jon Snow

    Class of 2016
    JON SNOW

He thinks he shouldn't be inducted this time around, well as the old saying goes, you know nothing Jon Snow.

Jon, Luke, or GOAT as I first knew him has been a member of the BTB section longer than possibly anyone still active today, starting his first BTB back in 2009 titled WWE: It's a New Day, showing his support for The New Day years before it was even a thing. That moment began a seven year cascade that would define Jon Snow of starting projects that ended prematurely, reaching a second show was a milestone for young Jon. It was always a frustration to see a Jon project die so early given the quality of his writing and booking ideas.

While he may not have many successful projects to his name, Jon has always contributed to the section in one form or another. He was involved in the first BTB Roundtable which eventually evolved into the WC PPV roundtable, was an influential presence in the creation of the BTB section mod spot, he won the first ever King of BTB tournament back in 2014 and has organised many community activities like the monthly booking projects and the 'Return of the Bookers' draft in 2016. Jon is also one of the few members of the section to have a successful joint project, teaming up with Order and White Rhyno to form the sWo for their WWE 2006 BTB. Today, you can find Jon finally finding his feet with his Chronicling Canadian-Pro BTB; hopefully it can be his first long term singles success in the section.
