    some phrases...

    Hi,

I have just a few questions about catchphrases or speechs.

    1. Who says "Layeth Smacketh-Down" in which situation and whats means? The Rock said it?

    2. What means "jabroni beatin' ", "pie-eatin' " and "trailblazing"? The English-German language book and dict.cc say nothing about this.

I know it sounds dumb, but this a try!

I'll answer, but first I want to know if 99 Luftballons was based on a real event.

Ehm...You're kidding me? If not, here's an explanation fo 99 Luftballons:
It was the Cold War and everyone with sympathics on military was paranoid. Then, NATO want to take Pershing II (nuclear missiles) in Germany, very damn nearly on the border of DDR (East Germany). Every man and woman say that would a reason for an upcoming Nuclear War between USA and Sovjetunion (in real it's caused many demonstrations and protests). On the year 1982, a member of the band "Nena" saw many ballons flying at the concert of Rolling Stones. He said: "If the ballons fly to DDR or Sovjetunion, maybe their military thinks it's a special attack (for example UFO) of USA and starts conter-attack?"
So, this man sung with "Nena" the very critical song which includes a therotical future of this worst case. So I say: it's a half-half.
And yes, the militaries of the Great Powers were REALLY paranoid.

When the Rock created it, it simply meant to kick some ass.

Jabroini beatin' = Beating up on nobodies.
    Pie-eatin' = I can't say I know.
Trailblazing = Making history, making a name for yourself, ect.

Hmm, I think you may have luck finding out what "Pie-eatin'" means if you go into an adult chat room and randomly ask people. One of them would have to know. Good luck.
