Meltz gave ZSJ/WALTER from night two 5 stars. That's the third in just over a year from PWG

BOLA might be the hardest show for me to watch from anything in current wrestling. I have tried to watch Night 1 for the past two evenings, I watch one match and close the tab I'm that disinterested in what I'm seeing.

I don't know what it is but I'm just not feeling BOLA at the moment. It's too bloated I think. There is a few people who are in the tournament just to be in it. They need to shorten it next year but I guess the moeny they will lose will make that unlikely.

Yeah I agree with the sentiments going with BOLA and I'm only through Night 2. The Main Event with the Elite vs Team Lucha Libre saved that saved the show for me, but a Match I actually liked was Sammy Guevara vs Joey Janela. Bad Boy himself had a great Match in Progress Months ago and he had a good bout with Sammy a person I never seen before. When you see their Match you'll wonder how did Joey not KO himself during this Match. Special nomination of Riddle vs Elgin too was a hard hitting Match as well.

Re: Pro Wrestling Guerrilla - Introduction and General Discussion

I don't have a problem with a 3 day weekend tournament because I've watched two different ones for wXw this year and I couldn't watch them fast enough. I know I get G1 burnout but that doesn't happen until about 7-8 day in. I think what it comes down to is literally nothing matters in that promotion. It doesn't matter who the champ is, it doesn't matter who wins BOLA, it doesn't matter who makes the final. It's inconsequential. I feel like no stories are being told in this tournament to the point where you could randomly mix up the brackets, reach a totally different final, and the outcome would still be the same, 3 nights of very good Reseda style super indy wrestling that's completely forgettable and gets lost in the shuffle of a great year in wrestling. That, and I feel like I've been seeing the same production values and hardcam set up for a decade now in PWG.

Oh and while Chuck Taylor can be funny on commentary, it's so hard to take a match seriously when he's on colour.

PWG's annual winter sale is now up and going again. 5 DVD's for $40 (Normally $75) or 4 Blu-Rays for $55 (Normally $80). The most recent show included in the sale is July's Pushin Forward Back.

Mystery Vortex V results from Twitter:

    Spoiler:

    - David Starr defeated Fred Yehi
    - Joey Janela defeated Flash Morgan Webster (apparently Webster got fucked up)
    - Sammy Guevara defeated Rey Fenix (another match with dangerous spots)
    - Keith Lee defeated Zack Sabre Jr. in apparently another classic match
    - Trent? defeated Marty Scurll
    - Chosen Bros defeated Ringkampf (!!!) to retain the PWG Word Tag Team Titles
    - Chuck Taylor defeated Ricochet in a Guerilla Warfare match to become the new PWG World Champion. Ricochet gave a farewell speech after.

Timothy Thatcher is the most un-Reseda wrestler ever, weird to see him in PWG, but Ringkampf are great and will be an in demand tag team this year.

According to a lot of reports it was probably the best match on the show.

Re: Pro Wrestling Guerrilla - Introduction and General Discussion

I think it’s a fine card. You can take or leave Riddle/Lee. I think their work together is better than people give it credit for but this usually isn’t the most appealing setting for stuff you’ve seen before. Flip is whatever and booking him against the biggest heel in Reseda is weird. Flip just seems by default destined to get heat due to his role on BTE. I don’t know.

But a lot of positive. Banks and Starr will produce a fine match, Castle will be refreshing outside of ROH and fully re-welcomed by Reseda. Plus a match with Janela is more right up his alley than being a main event champion. Brooks/Sydal is your nutty spot fest and that main event is going to be awesome. Best Friends were the highlights of a lot of 2017 PWG. Their collision is going to be interesting.

I finally finished BOLA and All Star Weekend today (at least what I wanted) and my two biggest compliments are that Walter/ZSJ was phenomenal and Zack was as much of an MVP as Best Friends were, and Marty Scurll in PWG is the only Marty I like at the moment.

Re: Pro Wrestling Guerrilla - Introduction and General Discussion

Sydal was replaced at this show due to an injury, and he was replaced by a guy I've seen at a few local shows, Brody King. Brody made his PWG debut by replacing Sydal and apparently from what I read on Twitter he got "please come back" chants, so that's cool to me to see a guy I've watched locally make it to PWG. He's had some matches at Bar Wrestling too, and he's done an Evolve show too I believe.

This looked like a pretty good show from what I was seeing on Twitter while it was going on. I'm gonna have to check it out once it's available.
