    Way to go WWE

Alright I am almost afraid of saying something out loud because after all the bull shit the WWE does to us it seems like they are starting to bring back one of the best things about wrestling and that is the managers. We have Vickie Guerror who can easily pick up another guy with Ziggler. Like it or not even if he keeps announcing you might as well call Cole a manager. Dibiase had Maryse, Miz got A-ry because hes much more useful has a manger then a wrestler.

This trend is making me very hopeful for the future that if the WWE sticks with this we might finally be getting true variety again. In the 90's or 80's if you needed a star you gave him Heenan, Hart, or any above average mouth piece and you had a legitimate main eventer if he could perform in the ring. If Sheamus didn't have all the pressure on him last year and had a manager to unleash the celtic warrior he would of never gotten demoted for just one recent example.

So who do you guys think will be main event level guys with managers and besides the ancient guys like Cornette etc.. who do you think would make good main event level managers in the WWE.

    Re: Wait to go WWE

I really hope that they are going this way with managers again, but you never know what they will do. I really think Cole would be a tremendous manager as he has that heel manager persona already. I can be all tough and talk shit about you when you are not there, hell I can even interfere in your match, but as soon as you look at me I will run.

I think they could really use Cole as a manger and bring in some real tag teams like demolition/Lod style that can use him as their mouth piece.

I think someone like Jericho would also make a great manager he has the mic skills to get the job done along with if needed he can still go in the ring.

I also think Edge could make a great manager or even a commentator along with Big Sexy Kevin Nash. Nash would also be great on commentating but I think he would just say what is on his mind instead of listening to what is being said and he would lose it on air.

I would love to have another Heenan or Jimmy Hart.

I would love to personally see him being the manager of David Hart Smith and have a feud with Tyson Kidd, either that or be the manager of Mason Ryan or Big Zeek.

Although that would be awesome it would be a waste of Jerichos talent he still has a good 5-6 years left in the ring. I would like to see him form a stable ( something he never done) and have 3 or 4 guys who are out just to watch his back and have Jericho bring them to the mid card title or tag titles.

Cole would be an excellent manager given the level of heel heat he has (though maybe they should do it soon and get him off commentary before his heat turns into XPac heat).

Given that Cole, Vickie, Michael Hayes, Ranjin and ARi are all managing there at the moment, it seems you shouldn't hold your breath on them bringing in people to manage their "superstars" that are outside the WWE at the moment.

Up until a couple of years back, Larry Sweeney seemed the obvious choice if you were looking outside the group. I always imagined Piper would have been a tremendous manager, but the temptation with bookers with him and Flair always seems to be "why not put them back in the ring as well".

I always enjoyed Stevie Richards as a manager. Maybe others that I think could do a good job would be Raven, JBL (though he has far greater financial interests now), Nash if he could be told not to use it as a role just to get himself over.

Maybe even DDP or The Road Dogg.

Just a few to toss in there.

Cole would make a fantastic manager. He's great on the mic and has some serious heat going on right now.

Ahhhhh, the lost art of the Manager.

It hasn't really been mentioned, but a key role of a manager is to shroud the wrestler in mystery. They give the impression of being a lot harder and a lot tougher because they dont piss about talking smack. Another human is so scared of this mean guy that they follow them round doing the talking.

Larry Sweeney (God rest his soul) would have been perfect for this in the WWE. He had that brashness that always comes off well on the screen. Such a damn tragedy.

On the other hand, I always had Mick Foley as my dream manager, Doesn't need to scream to gte his point across and is always heard, plus can do face comeday as well as dark and mysterious.

    Re: Way to go WWE

On a related point, managers are more commonly associated with heels. I don't see a lot of heels in the WWE that need a manager for the typical mic work at least. When you think of Del Rio, Miz, Punk, Truth, Cody. The only definite I can think of is Drew. Maybe you could include Sheamus and Swagger but neither are by any means dunces with the mic.

In fact there are more faces than heels that would need that kind of mic service, especially guys like Kofi and Bryan.

I don't know. I love the idea, but I don't see where it fits in with a lot of the guys. If we're talking about them just being interference runners, well WWE tend to use their huge roster for that.

Yeah but look at rude when he had Heenan they were and unstoppable force and without each other no way he got enough heat to beat Warrior but he by no means needed a mouth piece

    Re: Way to go WWE

It's definitely more usual for heels to have managers, but currently in WWE its some of the faces who could do with the help a manger gives. I suppose that could be put down to the E only wanting a certain type of face and not letting these guys diversify a little.
As for Cole, I think he would make a decent manager, though I can only see him working with Swagger at this point. Also, I'd prefer if he was to disappear from my screen entirely, but I'd take him as a manager rather than a commentator any day!
Jericho would be wasted as a manager just now, as he can still go well in the ring, and I'd rather see him in that capacity for a few years when (if) he returns.

    Re: Way to go WWE

I have noticed that there have been more managers lately. I love managers because of the enertainment value they have, the rub wrestlers can get off of them, and the overall atmosphere of wrestling companies. I question though if managers can truly work in today's environment on a consistent basis. I do however feel there is a need for their prescence in WWE.

    Re: Way to go WWE

They have several people who could fill the manager role well such as Cole, Regal, Hayes and Ricardo with his recent offense used to help Del Rio could easily make the transition from announce to Manager for him. I also believe it will do more good then harm, their are plenty of guys on the roster right now with sub par mic skills and could use a mouth piece to help get them over. Look back a lot of the biggest stars started out with managers. Undertaker and Brock Lesnar to name a few notable...
