I could see leaning towards Aries if you only watched their ROH work, but on the whole I think Hero takes this quite comfortably. His work in IWA:MS and to a lesser extent PWG and Chikara over the decade was really, really great, being in the best matches from all three company's history and carrying plenty of guys. Aries is really good himself, at times great, but at his best I don't think he's as good a Hero at his best.

An actual hard vote, though mainly for the fact that I enjoyed both wrestlers, and neither fit my personal preferences more than the other, but looking back, I think Hero's overall body of work is better than Aries. Though both were excellent wrestlers when i watched

Really tough match-up here. While Aries was super impressive in ROH, as Steve said, Hero's work in other affiliates makes him get my vote.

And Hero is a former CHIKARA tag champ, two time CZW tag champ, former CZW champion, four time IWA:MS champion, former PWG champion, and two time ROH tag champ. What's your point?

Um..I'm well aware that TNA has more exposure than ROH, and WWE more exposure than TNA. That's irrelevant, since we're talking about Aries and Hero. Unless you're bring their TNA runs into this. PWG is one of the top indys out there, and at one point IWA:MS and CZW were. Plus, Hero has two tag title runs in ROH, which has more national exposure, or so I've heard. I'm not questioning your vote for Aries, since I almost did myself, I'm just trying to figure out why you think his two ROH title runs are much more prestigious than Hero's various runs.

As a whole....Hero`s various title reigns may in fact be more impressive then Aries 2 ROH World title reigns.....but what i am getting at is....ROH is arguably the biggest Indy promotion...So Aries has won the biggest Indy title twice...If I may make this analogy....Say wrestler A wins the WWE World title....wrestler B wins the US Title, and the tag titles 3 times.....If A was up against B in this tournament....I would pick A because he won the more prestigious title...Once again...out of all the 1st round match ups....I found this one to be the hardest to make a pick from...

Kayfabe accomplishments mean nothing when it's a tournament about in ring talent in a decade. But I voted for Chris Hero, I've been a Hero fan for years, and for me from 05-10 He's in the top 5 in the world from that timespan.

GJAM - the organiser of this tournament, the Game Rage, was pretty vague on the criteria by which folk would decide who they wanted to choose, leaving it up to the individual's whims as to who was subjectively best. It's not solely a tournament about in-ring talent (though that should be foremost in people's minds) but about promo skills, personal preference and other stuff.

I like TCONS argument here. Austin Aries does have the bigger title runs since they were in ROH, but Hero has more of them abroad. This is tough. Although Aries does have the two bigger reigns technically, Hero having multiple reigns in multiple companies I think shows, that he is the more versatile guy. It shows that he can be successful anywhere he goes, and thusly must be the better wrestler. For that, I have to give the vote to Chris Hero.

This match up is really close, but I think it edges more towards Hero. Hero was able to redefine the tag team division with Claudio, and Hero was great in singles competition as well. AA was great in the singles division too, working great matches and feuds. However, Hero's ability to work in two divisions, paired up with his great in-ring work, gets my vote.

You could say that Aries and Strong saved the tag division for ROH. Their reign is potentially still the best reign in ROH history. I'd still give Hero the edge thanks to watching a lot of early PWG and seeing Hero kicking some serious ass, but it's worth noting that Aries was also a good tag workers.
