I was annoyed it wasn't part of the N Sane Trilogy. Pissed it wasn't on the PlayStation Classic.

    I'M BEYOND EXCITED NOW

Here's an update on Metroid Prime 4. Looks like a total reset, and a long ass delay.

    Re: General Game Discussion

I was excited to try the Anthem demo but, much like with Fallout 76, reading about all the issues has caused me to not even bother trying.

I watched a handful of gameplay videos and I have to say that it just looks like Andromeda. Like 100% everything about this game looks like Andromeda from an aesthetics standpoint as well as the combat and movement systems. The games use the same engine so obviously there will be some similarities but it's JARRING how similar they look.

On one hand it's a good thing, I think. Because I loved combat in Andromeda and it was really the only redeeming quality the game possessed. But then it's really gonna hinder on the open-world aspect of the game and all the events because I doubt we're going to get a meaningful story in a game like this even with Bioware at the helm. I went from being cautiously optimistic to borderline cancelling my pre-order.

I haven't cancelled yet and will give it a couple weeks but holy shit has gaming really changed. It's not new and exclusive to Anthem or even 76 but I spend more time cancelling pre-orders because games look like absolute dogshit or just don't run than I do playing the new releases anymore. Red Dead 2 is really the last major release that wasn't fucked up at all and I've been enjoying the shit out of that game and don't want it to end.

I fear this is it for Bioware, too. If Anthem fails then I don't see anyway they avoid major layoffs or an outright shutdown. Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises be damned. EA would just close the studio and outsource remasters for the Mass Effect Trilogy and everything up through DA: Inquisition and call it a day. So I want to see this game succeed but holy shit.

Still grinding mah way thru Red Dead Redemption 2. Should have been done but doing almost all the side shit. I got the newest Assassins Creed for Christmas and I'm tempted to give it a try, but wanna finish RDR2 first.

Been playing the shit out of Kingdom Hearts III, no surprise there. I shouldn't be shocked given that it's the first time a KH has been made for a home console in 13 years, but it is staggering how much bigger and smoother it is than Kingdom Hearts II, even considering how well that game has aged.

I beat Leon's scenario on easy(i'm a pussy) in just under 7 hours with exactly 50 saves. I got a B rating and loved every second of it. 6 of those hours was in one sitting. I just couldn't stop playing it.

I'm starting Claire's scenario today and then after I beat that I will do the 2nd run scenarios for each.

I got a Switch today. I got Smash and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with it, at Target there’s a deal with 50% off with certain games when purchasing the console and Mario Kart is one of them. I’ll be borrowing Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild from friends so I can play those, and I’ll get Mario Party eventually.

    Jason Schreier

Activision Blizzard says that -- despite its "record year" -- it's laying off 8% of staff. Last year it had roughly 9,600 employees, which means that 800 people are losing their jobs. Updating here as we learn more
Man it must be rough to be in the video game business.

The way they went about it was pretty bullshit. Activision has a record year but have basically been plotting to fire hundreds of people for months now and refused to be upfront about it. I get changing company priorities and shit, but they shouldve and couldve easily found a better way to help those employees transition out of the company instead of fucking them over like this. Feel like the roughness in this case is just people in suits being dicks.

Yeah fuck Activision. When your top level execs are making like 15 Million a year, those record years do nothing but line their pockets. The people who created the art and invested their lives into their work get punished for RECORD SALES. Think about that.

Last Activision game I bought was Destiny 2 and we all saw what happened there. Can't imagine buying anything to support them in the future.

Video game industry is just like any other corporate industry. Those at the top will protect themselves and shit on the employees without hesitation. Always and forever.

Getting a bit into Assassins Creed Odyssey now. Controls still don't feel quite the same but I'm getting the hang of it. The mercenaries aren't quite as bad to face as I first thought - just gotta pick your battles. Should make some decent progress this weekend. Cold as fuck and 3 days off.

    Re: General Game Discussion

Never got into any Warhammer games. Heard some of them are quite good, though.

3 day weekend coming up and the weather is pure fucking Arctic so gaming til my eyes bleed. FM, TEW, and AC Odyssey. Should make some good progress in the latter. Up to Level 10 now. I forgot the dynamic of Origins that annoyed me at times. The "leveled" areas has its upsides, but wandering into a higher-level area means you run into mooks and animals that murderize you instantly. That's awfully fun. Something about the enemy locations / bases that you can wipe out feels... more open. Less areas of cover you can move into to gradually use stealth kills to wipe out the whole unit in the location. There were a few like that on Origins, where you could use stealth for some of it, but were likely going to have to engage in some level of open combat. More of them have felt that way so far on Odyssey. Maybe other areas will be different. But its definitely a design factor.
