Played some Mario Kart with the sister on her Nintendo Switch. Bugger me those controls are tiny, my thumb is aching. Didn't help that she won every single race.

Been looking at getting one of the NES and SNES classics. Only problem is the freaking scalpers on Amazon usually want three times the market value. The only time I ever dealt with a scalper was during WM 24 when I really wanted Floor seats.

Been thinking of replaying Final Fantasy 6 again, or maybe 4.

Exactly. At the decisions you make really branch out. Not to mention how well the game gets you invested into the story and the characters, that the endings really hit you hard.

They're some of my favorite games, although the first one is by far the best of the series. Second two I enjoyed because I'm a die hard walking dead fan, but I think the first was still the best.

Didn't like how they took us out of Clem's shoes for New Frontier. Javi was hard to get into and was generally a bit of an unlikeable character for awhile.

But I do love the series. I do dislike games when they release content in episodes. I always wait until the whole game is out so I can just play it straight through.

But I love games like that. Games that play like movies. The "skill games" with story I end up playing on the easiest difficult anyway because I'm just playing for the story, not the challenge.

I find that the Telltale games just offer you an illusion of choice. The outcome seems to stay the same for the most part.

Been playing FIFA 18 alot. Fuck me have they upped the AI skill level. Struggling on World Class like never before.

Also got Yakuza Kiwami and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Kiwami's fucking awesome and I'm yet to play Tomb Raider. Might replay the first one before this one.

sooooooooo what youre saying is that you cant slide tackle 5 seconds in advance and let the AI run into your laying-on-the-ground defender anymore?

I don't disagree but the overall value will be dependant on if you replay games or not. I've replayed several telltale games and used different branches to see everything. Yeah it's mostly linear towards the end but I enjoy seeing the different branches personally.

    Re: Currently Playing

The TellTale games hinge massively on the quality of the storytelling rather than the actual gameplay. So if you are into gaming more for the action then I can totally understand it not being your thing.

So I'm almost finished season 1 and man is the story just as good. Lee is one of my favourite video game characters.

    Re: Currently Playing

It depends on the Telltale game in general. I agree with Shake that there is an illusion of choice - it worked very well in The Walking Dead 1 and 2 and The Wolf Among Us where the game was well designed so it felt like you had a big influence on the world. But then you have games like Game of Thrones which were terrible and made little attempt at hiding that illusion of choice.

Telltale became very stale very quickly, and was put to shame by Life is Strange. It'll be a while before I give another of their games a chance.

Yeah life is strange is absurdly good. Should have redefined what games like this look like

    Re: Currently Playing

I enjoyed Life is Strange, but I enjoyed The Walking Dead games more. Probably because I'm a die hard walking dead fan, but TWD games were also a better balance of what we were talking about when it comes to lack of action because of story. Because it's still action and zombies and all that jazz.

Life is Strange goes all in as a playable movie. It was slow early on, but I did really enjoy it. Yet if you didn't like TWD because there wasn't much action, Life is Strange won't be for you.

    I enjoyed both though.

Still I'd rather play a game like Uncharted or The Last of Us that plays and feels like a movie, but is more fast paced and involved. So I guess it depends on whether you'd rather have branching story choices and options versus the same good story but instead of choices it's just the same shootouts.

Can anyone think of any games that manage to incorporate all of that successfully?

As much as I love TWD from Tell Tale it doesn't compare to Life is Strange. Life Is Strange is a fucking experience.

Mass Effect and Witcher trilogies spring to mind.

Personally I'd put Life Is Strange second only to TWD S1, but both are phenomenal games

I've only ever played one Telltale Game series, and that was the Game of Thrones one. For a game that's not really a game, I dug it.

I avoid game of thrones because I've never read nor watched it. Same with guardians.

Really didn't like Batman. I thought it was baaaaad
