Probably in a player/coach type of capacity too. Expect to see Chelsea's loan squad down there whilst we're at it.
I have a plan so cunning......

    Re: Managerial Comings & Goings

Shock move by Zidane but don't blame him at all. He's right in that there isn't really much "up" to go, and the squad is in need of some serious refreshment. Weird to think that they haven't added a pure first choice, first team player in three years.

So apparently Chelsea still want Sarri, who is under contract to Napoli and HAD an 8m buyout, but won't pay that buyout. So Napoli have two managers under contract. Now that the buyout clause has expired, Napoli could demand more from Chelsea. Napoli are notorious for driving a hard bargain. Chelsea really have entered the austerity phase. I have to laugh when I see stories like today, claiming Chelsea are going to go after Allisson, who might be too pricey for Liverpool... but Austerity Chelsea are gonna stump up.

So Conte's officially gone now. Sarri should be imminent now, and they need to get their skates on so that they can get involved in the transfer market.

    Re: Managerial Comings & Goings

    It’s official.

    #Sarriball is imminent.

Could do with a shift in several personnel. Jorginho looks certain as does Golovin and Rugani.

I can see us selling Drinkwater, Zappacosta, Batshuayi, Zouma (buy back) and Willian (abroad please) but we need to hold onto Hazard and Kante at all costs.

Courtois also seems certain to exit and we need to go big to replace him. Alisson fits the profile.

    My Wishlist

    IN

Alisson, Vrsaljko, Rugani, Jorginho, Golovin, Bailey or Pulisic

    OUT

Courtois, Zappacosta, Luiz, Zouma(BB), Drinkwater, Willian

The only other potential change I can see is striker with Higuain being linked massively.

    Alisson

    Azpilicueta - Rudiger - AC/Rugani - Alonso

    Golovin/Fabregas - Kante - Jorginho

    NEW RW - Higuain/Morata - Hazard

Long winded post I know haha

Don't think you'll see that much change unless big money comes in...so that may be seeing Hazard and/or Willian and Courtois moving on.

Looking forward to seeing how Sarri does in a new league though.

On the contrary I think there will be plenty of ins and outs. We’re not exactly poor and we’ve got a new coach who plays a different formation and style to Conte.

5/6 transfers isn’t much anyway given the circumstances.

Liverpool have made 3 already with at least 2 more mooted.

    Re: Managerial Comings & Goings

Have to admit, as a Gooner, I have rather enjoyed the Chelsea manager shitshow this summer. Intrigued to see how Sarri does.

Argentina have mutually parted ways with Jorge Sampaoli. If you follow Argentine football very much, you might already be aware, but this was quite the shitshow. A lot of blame for Argentina's World Cup has been thrown at his feet, and not all undeserving. But they were a mess before he got there. There were two managers before him during the qualification for this World Cup, and after Sampaoli came in, they managed to qualify by the narrowest of margins. they lost a pair of high-profile friendlies and some of the players who didn't make the WC squad that fans are saying would make the difference were in those matches - and were part of why Argentina lost those matches. Sampaoli fucked up the squad selection, match squad selection, tactics, how he handled Messi... but I'm sure they underachieved by going out where they did. If you ignore the GOAT in their midst and a deceiving amount of attacking talent and look instead at their recent results, nearly going out in the Group Stage and then going out is not underachieving. Its to level.

What made the whole situation a shitshow, though, was the AFA handling of Sampaoli. After the AFA Presdient stated publicly that the manager would survive even a Group Stage exit because of how he had got them to the WC in the first place, they instead decided he had to go. But firing him would cost the federation almost 10m so they refused to do that. They wanted him to quit. He did what was asked, so why should he quit. So they started pressuring him. According to an Argentine podcast I listen to, they did things like removing some of the standard job perks - suddenly he's flying coach - and demanding he manage the Under-20s. Sampaoli finally took the payoff to leave today, pocketing 2m instead of the full amount. But my lord is the AFA a shitshow. Cannot see it getting better in the near future either.

Villa are reportedly sacking Steve Bruce and replacing him with Thierry Henry with 2 weeks to go until the season starts. That's some way to treat Bruce who stuck with the club while all this financial uncertainty was going on. More sensible spending from them...

After a day of Villa fans on twitter celebrating that they thought he was leaving What an odd story this has been. Pressure on them if they don't get off to a good start.

You can read about it all in the Ed's Championship Adventures thread coming next weekend~

I was disappointed to see Sunderland drop again because I'm now on an island alone in that league
