Urmmmm, Randy Orton at a stretch, but he's only just turned, so time will tell on that one.

Shawn Michaels regularly does things people may not like (costing Taker the title, super kicking HHH at SS, almost costing Cena the title at RR last year), but has stayed a face.

There's alot of faces I wouldn't call generic. Taker, HBK, HHH, Cena, Rey and Christian all have developed characters and personalities that the casual fans love. Generic is somebody like Evan Bourne that runs out with a goofy smile, throws up a peace sign and flops around.

Of course there's no Stone Cold-type face right now though. There are not going to be any faces like that ever again.

Maybe HHH as well, but that again, is more due to longetivity.

No way on Cena and Rey. What you said about Evan applies to them too.

Christian could be, but he's had little in the way of character to begin with since he returned.

He still has an actual character and personality. He has shown it during his feud with Punk and during his feud with Taker. Yes he's a goody two shoes but he connects with the fans. We all know Rey, we know what makes him tick. That's having an actual character.

Cena has one of the most developed characters in wrestling right now. He cuts lots of promos. His entire storyline with Batista, Bret and Vince has shown more character depth than most people in the company atm with his promos about how Vince uses wrestlers and not wanting to end up like that. Like Rey he is a goody two shoes but to say he's generic is wrong.

If he's generic then so is Taker, HBK and Orton. But none of them are.

Generic is MVP, Cryme Tyme, etc.

Re: Who ISN'T a generic face?

    Not really.

Cena hasn't done anything that a normal face wouldn't do. Faced up to Vince, defended a retired Bret Hart. You could insert any other face into his role, and the story would still play out the same.

This may sound like a joke answer, but the first one that popped into my head was Hornswaggle. He's constantly finding ways to freshen his character up a bit by doing different things.

Ironic that Hornswoggle is a face nobody can call generic. Yet nobody likes.

Makes you think is being generic that bad?

Throw Santino in there then too. If you are talking about someone who will actually wrestle more than 4 matches in a year, probably Taker is the only one. HHH and Michaels play the heel role anytime they are put into the face vs. face matches. Just like last year at mania Michaels was the bad guy leading into the PPV and after the match he just came back like nothing happened.

    ?????????????????????

Cena has virtually no character at all. He is a goody two shoes who never does anything the fans might not like. He is a big kiss ass, who follows the generic face code to a tee.

Re: Who ISN'T a generic face?

I agree with Y2J, Cena is just a really, really over generic kiss ass face. Mysterio is the same as well, he does all the white bread, panderous, ass kissing things that a face does to a science. Morrison is the poster boy for genericism as a face. R Truth is no better. Edge is approaching the same territory since the Rumble, but has some level of hope.

Orton is the only guy who seems to want to seperate himself and it is so far into its infancy that one can only speculate.

That time Santino was about to tell the kids in the audience that Santa wasn't real and Cena came to rescue really was something you'd see in the E's cartoony early 90's era. Cena is very generic.

Re: Who ISN'T a generic face?

I think, if done properly, Ted DiBiase could be a unique face given his background with Orton and Legacy. The timing for it right now is perfect with the triple threat match looming and the evil trio all but done for, but the way things are currently playing out suggests that Orton may be leaning more towards the face side and vice versa for Ted.

Presently, other than names already mentioned, I can't think of a face that isn't generic.
