Re: Champions League Second Round Discussion

Ronaldinho's been quality this year. No idea why he isn't in the Brazil squad at present, probably their most in-form player, but that's a different story.

He could definitely cause United some problems. But for the most part, Milan are an aging side who will definitely go out to make it tough for United, but really we should be expecting to go through.

Agree with most of your quarter-finalists Tommy, except I'd be surprised if Chelsea don't go through. They're in wonderful form at the moment and Inter will have real problems controlling Drogba.

Could see Fiorentina surprising Munich too.

Olympiakos/Bordeaux...I'd pick Olympiakos for the sake of it, but I'm not overly bothered lol.

    And he scores goals...!

I'd love to see Inter win just for Jose. Still love his presence and it'd be great if he won at Stamford Bridge.

Should probably be the tie of the round.

I don't know much about Bordeaux or Olympiakos, I just fancied the latter for some reason lol.

    And he scores goals...!

Ah yes, I forgot about half of those Bordeaux players, my bad.

They're pretty much the best team in France at present aren't they? Yeah, they should easily go through.

    And he scores goals...!

Gourcuff is quality, he has scored some awesome goals. Chamakh is the player linked with Arsenal and Liverpool isn't he?

    To go through:

    Real Madrid
    Bayern Munich
    Arsenal
    Bordeaux
    Barcelona
    Sevilla
    Chelsea

I'd like Moscow to go thought but I dont think they will. Cant call AC/United right now. I think it will come down to Away Goals.

If I'm right with who goes through, I want Sevilla in the Quarters. Bayern wouldnt be the worst either but the rest will be very hard ties.

    Two reasons for this.

    1. The Europa League have an extra round so they can spred the Champions League games out better.

    2. You can watch four live games on TV instead of 2.

I've got a funny feeling Milan will beat United 2-0 tonight. Ronaldinho will love the big match atmosphere and run the show. Rooneys not going to get a sniff tonight. Beckham will probably get 10mins at the end of the game.

The only other match I’m mildly interested in during this round is the Inter/Chelsea game. Mourinho is going to come back and haunt his old club – it should be good viewing.

From what I understand...Beckham is starting, isnt he?

I also dont understand Ronaldinho's situation...Robinho is closer to being in the lineup then Ronaldinho is? wtf?? Most games Ive seen them this year, he's been great. And Pato is starting to catch fire again, its going to be good I think. Of course I will pull for Milan, but it most likely wont happen.

Madrid, Fiorentina, Bordeaux, CSKA, and Chelsea to go through.

Of course, Barca will find a way to beat Stuttgart, but they are a little bit banged up...it'd be an awesome upset if they pulled it off.

And I cant decide on Porto/Arsenal.

He hasn't started the last few matches, but the guy who has started (Mancini) is cup tied, so there is a strong possibility of him starting, but I can see Leonardo taking a more cautious approach at the start of the game.

Re: Champions League Second Round Discussion

Ugh, our injures are piling up again. Arshavin, Gallas, Almunia, Song and Eduardo join Djourou and van Persie in the treatment room. Missing five of our first eleven now v.v

Since it's the away leg I'd expect:

    ----------------Fabianski

    ----Sagna Vermaelen Campbell Clichy

    Walcott Fabregas Denilson Nasri Rosicky

    ----------------Bendtner

With Denilson playing in front of the back four to make it more 4-1-4-1 than 4-5-1.

Hopefully Campbell can pick up where he left off in the Champions League

Yeah, that's why I don't expect us to get past Porto.
