    Transfer Rumours & Gossip

Should we use here for the early transfer rumours/news for the Summer or what?

The speculation surrounding the future of Bordeaux forward Marouane Chamakh refuses to calm, as the highly sought-after striker has agreed a £50,000 per week pre-contract with Arsenal, according to a report in The Mirror.

Chamakh, whose contract with the Ligue 1 side expires in the summer, is currently free to talk to would-be suitors with a view to sign a permanent deal in the summer, and the contract he has agreed with the Gunners is reported to span five years.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been linked with the Morocco international since the £25 million departure of Manchester City-bound targetman Emmanuel Adebayor last summer, but refused to bow to the fee demanded by Bordeaux.
It's only the Mirror but the wage sounds about right to me if it were true. Usually they just pick a random number.

    Re: General Football Discussion

According to reports, Raul is expected to join MLS and the New York Red Bulls after this season.

HUGE score for MLS if this happens. This would make 3 watchable teams in the entire league.

I agree. He will end his MEANINGFUL playing career in Madrid. He will get to an age where Madrid wont want to pay him top dollar anymore (or any other top Euro side)

But MLS will pay him good money to play in a league where he will still be great even at an advanced age. Also, Raul loved Beckahms original plan, which was to end his career in MLS and buy into or start his own MLS club.

Sorry, I shouldve posted the article.

Real Madrid's record-breaking captain Raul will join MLS side New York Red Bulls next season, according to Spanish daily Marca.

Raúl: Had enough of the Real Madrid bench

The Madrid-based newspaper, that has close ties with Real, claims Raul is eager to play in America and will be paid the same wage he receives at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 32-year-old, who is Real's all-time top scorer, has been at Los Blancos since he was 17 and enjoyed a trophy-laden career. He has slipped down the pecking order of late as club president Florentino Perez builds another team of galacticos.
Raul recently admitted he was considering his future at Real. "For 15 years I have won practically everything, and in the last three months I have played less," he said. "It's not an ideal situation for any player."
Raul's agent Gines Carvajal has confirmed that a number of clubs have shown an interest in the player, but added that his client could remain at Real.
Carvajal said: "Some clubs have asked about Raul, but that is a question that depends exclusively on the player and he is very happy in Madrid."
The New York Red Bulls are reportedly trying to build a team of superstars and have been linked with Barcelona striker Thierry Henry and a bid to tempt AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini out of retirement.
David Beckham left Real Madrid to join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007 and raised the global profile of the U.S. league.
