    John Terry/England Captain Situation

With all the newspaper allegations recently about his alleged adultery and taking money for private tours at Chelsea, do you think he should stay on as England skipper?

If not, who would you like to see replace him as England captain heading into the World Cup?

As long as it doesn't affect the way he plays who really gives a fuck.

Yeah, for his work. I don't see why a guy's personal life should even be in the question. If it affects the way he plays, sure, but otherwise I don't see the difference and it's just typical people-trying-to-give-an-opinion-on-the-life-of-someone-they-don't-know garbage. Unless my memory is that bad, I don't remember anyone calling for Beckham to step down when his affair came out and I don't see how this should be any different.

Re: John Terry - Should he stay on as England captain?

What else to it is there then?

I really am not seeing the crossover between personal life and work. I wouldn't ask him round to dinner, but I'd still rely on him to make key decisions in a football game. I don't think many objected to him being captain before this came out, what's changed?

IIRC Rio has done some dumb shit in the past, Rooney is a ill-tempered idiot and Gerrard is a scouse scumbag, I don't see why they are suddenly more apt at being the captain just because people found out about the affair.

I personally think he should step down, but I can see why people are saying 'who gives a fuck?'

People go on about how footballers should be role models etc... well, if the England captain is doing that, that's hardly being a great role model. I say give it to Rooney.

Re: John Terry - Should he stay on as England captain?

I think he should definitely step down or be replaced. If it was a normal affair, I wouldn't give a shit, like Beckham "possibly" did it and it wasn't a big deal in regards to England captaincy.

The problem this time is Steve, it's with a fellow England team-mate's now ex-girlfriend. Bridge is said to be considering retiring from international football over it which will greatly affect Capello's squad. It's been a huge mistake by Terry, plus the whole money tour thing. He just seems like a total idiot. Definitely needs to go.

As for replacing him, I think it's really only Gerrard who deserves it. Great club captain, and second to Terry for England at the moment. He's generally pretty sensible too.

Giving it to Rooney would be the worst thing the English could do. He does not need any extra pressure. He's your only hope for even having a chance of winning the World Cup this year. Captaincy just wouldn't be fair on him. And Rio's behaviour against Hull, hardly prime England captain material. Plus has had a very injury prone year, could mean he'd miss games in the World Cup hence being stupid to have him as captain.

    And he scores goals...!

Look around the world. Toddlers being killed and houses being blown up by terrorists. The world is full of bad bad people. If JT's boinking Bridge's wife I can't help but laugh. But he should be judged on his pitch merit as apposed to his private life.

You think other players aren't doing similar things? David Beckham with that weird lesbian chick? You're seriously telling me you think most players have been 100% faithful all the time?

Oh yeah. Lets have Rio, drug test missing moron. Genius.

Wayne Bridge still make the England squad?

Does he even make the City team nowadays?

Re: John Terry - Should he stay on as England captain?

Bridge is still England's second choice left back. Who would you bring in to replace him now with such a short time to the WC?

Didn't Gerrard get cleared Tommy? Rio's done just as much stupid stuff in the past too.

Gerrard's the obvious pick in that England squad to replace Terry no matter what anyone says. I imagine you know that too, you'd just like a United player as captain lol.

    And he scores goals...!

Pretty sure Ferdinand missed a drugs test a couple years ago, could be wrong but that normally means he's on drugs....

Can't doubt the dumb pricks done more.

Re: John Terry - Should he stay on as England captain?

Yeah, I know you said that. Fair play lol.

I still think it'd have to be Gerrard. Has been a great captain for Liverpool. I actually thought he should have got it the time Terry did I believe. I remember posting about it on here, I could check if I cared enough lol.

But really, can you guys think of a replacement for Bridge? I think you's would struggle to get a suitable candidate so Terry fucked up pretty hard there. He shoulda nailed a non-English team-mate's wife lol.

    And he scores goals...!

And what makes changing the captain this close to a World Cup such a great idea anyway?
