To follow up that point, I've only just become aware it's the British Grand Prix this weekend

John Isner at it again, this time in the semi finals of Wimbledon

    This is absurd.

Amazing isn’t it. Hope Isner does it to get into the final.

Re: General Non Football Sports Chat

Anybody got any thoughts on the Djokovic/Nadal match so far? I stayed up all night to watch it in Aus as it finished around 8am. I thought Djokovic dominated the first set but Nadal looked the better in the second and the third.

I know it sounds funny to look better and lose a set, but felt Novak just hung in there, before being a little more clutch in the tie break. Drop shots these two playing were ridiculous as well. I really hope Djokovic gets up, after a rough couple of years, it would be nice to see him do well again.

Djokovic looks close to his best again. This tournament is doing wonders for him.

This time next year if expect him to be the guy to beat again.

Only seen parts of the match but it's incredible how long they went. The second longest semi finals in Wimbledon history

Re: General Non Football Sports Chat

I think this is the win that he really needed. His performance was tremendous, don't get me wrong, but it still didn't feel like that 'belief' was all the way there. Instead of pulling the trigger on numerous occasions, he'd hit a shot down the middle of the court and allow Nadal to attack again.

Djokovic's strength is always going to be his defence, but when he was the man, he capitilised when it was time to attack as well. Awesome match though.

Curious as to whether I'm the only one who doesn't care that Serena is a mum and stills wants her to lose?

Seems like we wasted all our good tennis on the semi finals because this is shite. Third Wimbledon final in a row where one guy is hopelessly outclassed.

Djokovic is barely breaking a sweat here.

I fucking hate Djokovic. Rafael Nadal should've won that last match, and if it wasn't for the delay he would have. Djokovic was clearly getting tired when they delayed.

Not to mention the whole roof situation. It's clear Djokovic always plays better with the roof on. So convenient they kept it closed for him when they came back the next day.

Nadal will always be the best in my eyes. Djokovic and his "gluten free" diet. I'm guessing the new trainer didn't go for the "gluten free" diet and that's why he went back to the old one eh?

TDF has burst into life after today's 11th stage. G Thomas has a minute lead over his leader Froome, so interesting times ahead. It's a big one up Alp D'Huez tomorrow. I wonder if Froome will be allowed to pull rank here and have G ride for him as they aim to keep 1st and 2nd place, or will they be allowed to battle it out over 3 massive climbs in one stage?

I'd say whoever comes out in yellow after tomorrows stage is a strong favourite for the race.

Another year, another Great North Run victory for Sir Mo! 5 years straight now, another amazing achievement.

Jake Robertson giving it some too, 2nd for the second year straight, him and his brother have an interesting back story too, left NZ at 17 to train exclusively the Kenyan way, with inevitable great results.

Don't really keep up to speed with athletics other than the major Championships...so if there's anyone out for who will be Mo's successor?

G Thomas has put pen to paper for a new deal wit Team Sky. No word on what he'll lead on...probably won't be TDF as Froome will be first choice to go for #5 next year, so maybe a Giro/Vuelta double could be on for G next year if he fancies it.

Love me some Novak, happy to see him back at his best. Despite the tremendous Wimbledon win, I still thought maybe he was a little scratchy, but the ease in which he cruised through the semi final and final (outside of a few moments in that second set), he's back.

Suddenly, Djokovic catching Nadal has to be on the agenda again.

A direct successor? Forget it, Mo's a unique case due to his place of birth. Long distance running is still dominated by the Kenyans and Ethiopians, and unless there's a dramatic cultural shift that won't change.
