There is that but at 35, will he want to keep going?

There was also an awesome TDF stage today, some superb riding all round.

Was at Silverstone today as a journalist and it was epic. Great to see Lewis win again and I shook Nico Rosber's hand

That must have been some experience. Plus Hamilton's win was made all the sweeter with what happened to Vettel.

Given that the reason he took the 6 month break and missed the entire clay court season was because he had concerns about his longevity in the sport I think that shows that in his mind he wants to keep playing as long as possible. He knows what his strengths are so I can see him taking more breaks inbetween tournaments and only playing those that he's more likely to win. The grass season for example is something that he'll always play I think since that's his strongest surface.
He's still on top of his game and is by far the best player so far this season so there's no reason for him to stop now. Why not keep going and extending his incredible records? I wonder if he'll be able to eventually get back to #1? That's one thing he can aim for. Will be difficult if he doesn't play as many tournaments as others of course but that may be a goal in his mind. That would be a huge achievement and he'd be the oldest man to in the open era (I believe) to hold that ranking if he does, but with Djokovic and Murray struggling for form though then there's every chance that he could achieve it.
I don't think this is likely, but Federer could switch to doubles in a couple of years maybe to try and win some doubles slams? As I said, unlikely but that's something else he could go for.

Nadal looks like he's getting back to his best too with how he played in the clay season at least so if Murray and Djokovic fail to recover their old form we could see a rekindling of Nadal and Federer dominance. They've both dominated the ATP tour this season with Federer wining 2 slams and Nadal the other. Will be very interesting to see who wins the US slam.

Was very shocked at how Venus discombobulated in her final btw. Very unusual to see a player of that stature crumble like she did.

Froome has won three in a row, and four in five at the Tour de France. Amazing stuff indeed. It's a damn shame he won't get all the praise he deserves for his effort. Also he would have won in 2012 if he didn't have to follow team orders for Wiggins haha, says it all about the man. Best GC rider Britain have ever had really.

Also Simon Yates followed his brother Adam in winning the best young riders (Under 25) jersey, so the future is bright for us in the GC game.

Froome is attempting to win the Vuelta now too...currently 17 seconds down after two stages, but is ahead of his main rivals at the moment, plenty of time to go yet so anything can happen.

Lewis Hamilton on course to becoming F1 world champion after a crazy incident caused by Sebastian Vettel at the start of the Singapore Grand Prix today.

Hamilto surely has to be the best British sportsman in the world right now. Nobody remotely close in my opinion.

Vettel with two nasty weekends in a row haha...shame it pretty much hands the title to Hamilton though.

In other news its Bomber vs Hayemaker II before the year is out, much like the first one, I don't care who wins as someone is being shut up again.

He's had the best car under him for the past 3/4 years in fairness...but yes he is one of the greats of the world of F1. For just one season i'd love to see everyone have the same car setup to see who genuinely would win.

I'm well aware haha, it would just be nice. On the other side of the coin, the youngsters have done very well for themselves too, so the future is bright in that sense.

So Matty Maynard has returned to Glamorgan as a batting coach that will allow him time to be a head coach at any T20 competition, so an all round win there.

Ashes first test is close too, so lets bring it on.

Off to watch England vs. Samoa at Twickenham today, hopefully they're a bit more entertaining than they have been recently.

Sports Personality of the Year shortlist.

Not as stacked as last year (no Euros no Olympics, Murray having an off year). Got to be Joshua or Hamilton surely?

Re: General Non Football Sports Chat

Joshua seems to be the big fav this year, would like to see him win it. It's hard to imagine him ever having a better year - mostly because of a lack of star opponents for him, rather than his own abilities.

Hamilton's achievements are probably better on paper for the year but he's won it before and is still a bit of a prick.

Surprised none of the Lions/English rugby players at least made the list - drawn series and a Six nations win is a no small feat. Farrell would probably be the most deserving - think he won a European Cup last year too, and was probably one of the best players in world rugby. Again he's a knob end but personality has little to do with this award anymore.

    And he scores goals...!

Re: General Non Football Sports Chat

Really meh contest this year, as Shock said due to lack of Olympics/Euros etc, plus likes of Murray and MO having weaker years.

Want MO to win personally for fanboy reasons, but even then it won't feel as deserved as previous years.

Hadn't noticed the lack of rugby noms until PS mentioned it, but there haven't really been any outstanding individuals in the England squad.

I'm hoping it goes to AJ.

Harry Kane had a sensational season, but Spurs didn't win anything so lets just wait until he wins us the World Cup next year before he wins this.
