Villa's goal was great, superb counter attack from one end to the other.

I think the goal is about three foot back from where it started after Tevez was done with it.

Re: League Cup Semi Final Discussion

Mike Dean's been crap so far.

So obviously not a penalty. Foul was outside the box clearly, then Bellamy's realised he has nothing on so he goes down inside.

So many fouls going against United that are clearly not freekicks either.

Plus how Bellamy hasn't been booked so far is beyond me. First jumped into Valencia studs first, and then kicked Rafael needlessly. Terrible.

    And he scores goals...!

It was a terrible decision to be fair. Even if it was a foul, it was a freekick not a penalty. But I'm not complaining, makes it more interesting for us neutrals :D

Don't think that was a corner either tbh.

Rafael is having a mare, as did Anderson. When are these young players going to actually improve?

    And he scores goals...!

Re: League Cup Semi Final Discussion

    Oh bother!!

I thought we deserved at least a draw. Sloppy defending for the second goal cost us dear. However 2-1 is not the worst scoreline to lose by, we’ve still got a chance especially with the 2nd leg at Old Trafford. Do away goals count in this?

I didn't think it was a penalty in the first half. It was a foul, but outside the box. However hopefully Rafael learns from this because he is constantly tugging on players shirts, and he’s always going to get penalised for that sort of thing.

Second leg should be good, it’s set up nicely.

Re: League Cup Semi Final Discussion

I think it was a fair result regardless of how the goals happened. You could say City got lucky with their goals, but look at how United got their goal, a lot of luck was needed. Tevez had a great game and deserved his goals. Tevez has now passed Rooney in the scoring charts and will probably get close to 30 for the season. I think he has 17 now, thats pretty good for "a striker who doesnt score". Second leg should be great.

Re: League Cup Semi Final Discussion

City were very lucky with both goals. I still don't think the second was a corner, would like a closer look at it, but the defending after that was terrible by us so I guess we got what we desereved there.

Overall, we definitely deserved a draw. We were the better team for much of the match in my eyes. Rooney should have tried to round the keeper with at least one of his "kinda" one on one chances against Given.

And yeah I believe away goals count after 90 minutes Phantom, so we still have a good chance.

    And he scores goals...!

A draw would have proberly been a fair result but now you guys know what its like to be an away team at OT.

Away goals dont count until after extra time, that's why Burnley didn't make the final last year(lost away 4-1 then won in 90 mins at home 3-0 before conceding 2 in extra time)

Re: League Cup Semi Final Discussion

As a game it had some excitement, but man these were two REALLY poor teams. Shocking loss of possession at every turn. It was like watching a 200mph English game from 1985. Technically dreadful for the most part. But hey ho, it was a derby match and I guess that's to be expected with passions high.

I thought a draw would have been about right, maybe United edged it but if so, only just.

I can't believe Gary Neville in the reports today. He's barely played this season, but this will be the 3rd time he'll have been involved in an incident without having played in the match itself this season. For a guy that was generally speaking a fairly disciplined player, he's a complete tool on the sidelines.
