WWE Survivor Series - WWE Championship Triple Threat Match

WWE Champion John Cena vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels

WWE Champion John Cena delivered a memorable performance against Randy Orton at WWE Bragging Rights to capture his seventh World Title. The Champ, however, will have no time to rest or celebrate as he will have to defend his gold against a pair of allies, DX’s Shawn Michaels and Triple H, in a Triple Threat Match at Survivor Series.

Unlike most Triple Threat Matches which generally feature three existing foes, this extraordinary contest carries a much different outlook.

Cena, for one, will be forced to resist punishment from two former World Champions and future WWE Hall of Famers. The Game and HBK are two of WWE’s most illustrious all-time ring warriors, and unquestionably, each expect to reclaim the title.

The prominent question, though, will relate to Triple H and Michaels’ motives. Will the effervescent duo work as a team to ravage The Champ? Or, in contrast, will each DX Superstar focus on their individual quests to repossess the WWE Championship?

The WWE Universe has witnessed many allies throughout WWE’s storied history get into scuffles when the title is on the line. Most recently, for example, even longtime friends Batista and Rey Mysterio divided at WWE Bragging Rights during their Fatal Four Way Match when The Animal blamed his former buddy for his own defeat.

While DX asks Cena if he will be ready for Survivor Series, it’s also imperative for The Cerebral Assassin and The Showstopper to ask themselves if they will be ready. It will be uncustomary for the two partners to be opponents – something they haven’t done since DX’s fallout earlier this decade.

Cena, meanwhile, has stepped up to every challenge throughout his career, including proving he was the ultimate champion in his unforgettable rivalry with The Viper. The esteemed gladiator also has plenty of experience battling Triple H and Michaels. In fact, the 12 Rounds Star defeated The Game and HBK, respectively, at back-to-back WrestleManias in 2006 and 2007.

Retaining the gold, however, may not be in The Champ’s control. The first man to pin one of their opponents will be the champion.

All three combatants realize what they are up against, and it will be up to each of them at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. to show to the WWE Universe that they are Monday Night Raw’s most electrifying champion.

Be sure to catch this awe-inspiring title match at Survivor Series on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 8/5 PT, exclusively on pay-per-view.

Meh seems to me as the quick way for Trips or HBK to turn on one another while Cena retains

Pretty lame main event, although not as bad as the rumoured Smackdown one I've seen.

I too think this will be the beginning of the HBK/HHH split. But I don't think Triple H will turn for at least another three months.

I kept my eye on Raw this week, but don't really know the whole situation with a lot of angles going on right now. But, having DX in a Triple Threat for the title just seems like the opportunity to see Triple H turn and build up his heel persona heading into a WM 26 Title shot. But, I'm sure that's incredibly obvious lol

Anyway i don't really get all the hate for this match. Could be decent.

Don't really like any involved but like Cena more than DX. Not really excited about this, more excited about Show vs. Taker which I still expect to be shit.

So true. Well it looks as if Miz & Swagger are going to be doing a lil feud for the time being. Hopefully something comes out of that & both get more airtime to show what they can do. I don't see why they can't do Swagger V Cena as a lil month feud for Armageddon or something. Would work & it gives Swagger a lil bit more credibility.

Even though I am not looking forward to it, the match itself will be good. Both men work very well with Cena. But still... no new guys..

Any triple threat combination involving The Miz would have been a complete failure. He's lucky to be the U.S. champion because tbh, outside of some solid heel traits, he's not much of a wrestler.. he's not calling a match.. and he can barely be carried to something worthwhile. This is Survivor Series. If we were talking about a B-level show or a RAW main event, I'd agree.. but the three they have in here are the biggest draws and I'm sure there's going to be some tension injected into the relationship of Michaels and Hunter.

    Miz > You.

In a way I agree that in concept Survivor Series should be one of the biggest PPVs but on the other hand, if the other brands are doing big things then it's a good time to push young guys and give them a platform to grow and get more exposure.

I disagree. Miz is not close to ready to being a main event talent. His in-ring work leaves a lot to be desired.

It's a tiple threat - one of the most basic match formulas ever. He wouldn't have to worry about putting a match together or structure or anything, as long as he knows how to just hit his spots, which he does, he would be fine in a triple threat.

I'd like to say, on RAW the build for this match was... well.. absent. Shitty 3 face comedy promos leading into a big ppv match ftL.

And yet, CM Punk vs John Morrison vs The Miz was a surprisingly good match back in 2007 at Survivor Series.

I think it makes a lot more sense to throw a younger guy in there with two top guys so they can get over with the main attractions. How much money can Cena vs Michaels vs Hunter make without any real build to it before the match was made? Taking a Michaels or Hunter match and adding in a midcarder, I doubt it will have much of a difference in terms of bringing in the buys. Plus, you'd then have a major star left to be booked elsewhere. I'd much rather they saved the first Michaels vs Cena vs Hunter match for a show that would showcase that as being something truly special. How special is it when SD is doing a triple threat as well? It's like throwing your two top guys in a HIAC the very night SD throws two of their guys in a HIAC too. The big attraction from Raw wouldn't feel as big.

As far as the first Raw match after the Cena/Orton program ended, I don't see what's so wrong about having a midcarder in there. It obviously isn't that big of a match due to lack of prep time in the first place.

Re: WWE Survivor Series - WWE Championship Triple Threat Match

The original posts in this thread had nothing to do with The Miz vs. two top talents.. it was Cena/Miz/Swagger which would have been chalk full of fail.

Nobody is paying to see The Miz at this stage. Better that they stay with his slow progression on tv and build him up to this spot than to hotshot it for no damn reason.

Edit: You know the fact that some of you honestly believe that the crowd would be insane for Miz in the main event as compared to Cena or DX is mind boggling and even worse.. that you actually believe that people (mostly kids mind you) would pay to see it on PPV.

What has Miz done to even deserve that spot? What's wrong with how they've been handling him? I get that this has become a bit of a smarky board.. but lets be serious here. Miz is not a draw to the level of the three that are in the match.

WWE has proven they that are willing to push top talent recently with how well Legacy came off in their feud with DX and now Kofi getting a shot at Orton.. but Miz in a big four PPV main event out of the blue? Not buying it..

And with that lets all talk about THIS actual match. HHH vs. HBK. vs. Cena

Personally I see this match as nothing more for Cena to go over and to start the slow build for HBK vs. HHH at Mania. Otherwise its a huge waste of time.

I agree that it would be nice to see some new faces in the Raw main event scene, but thats another thread for another day.

This should be an alright match. I have a feeling though HHH is going to go heel after this match if he doesn't get the title, saying DX has been holding him back from whats important, winning world titles.

Yeah, I can't see them doing the match until Wrestlmania so turning Triple H fully heel right away would be ridiculous.

I can't believe their are still people who doubt The Miz's abilities. He's not exactly the world's greatest wrestler, granted (and I do agree that Swagger/Miz/Cena is not big enough for Survivor Series) he's got a solid base, is continually improving, works the mic like a pro, and is the first US Champ in quite some time who has made the belt look like it's worth anything. If it were Cena vs. HHH (or HBK) vs. Miz then I think that your argument would be entirely invalid because he'd work in the match fine. They'd have to have done a mini-tournament to get their, just to show Miz earned the spot, but other than that I can't see anyone other than haters getting in a tizzy about it.

As for this match, thus far nothing has made me want to care about it. It has the possibility to be good, but not particularly great and it's just a shame that it'll be finishing off the PPV. I think it's a real shame though that Cena follows Bragging Rights, where he faced the top heel in the company, in a physically draining match that really seems to have stiffled the boo's for him quite a significant amount, with this... A triple threat against two of the biggest faces in the company, resulting it what is likely to be the return of the boo's. Such a disappointing way to book him.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the same night they announced this match was the same night Cena told Legacy that it was time for something new?
    LOL the irony!
For once I actually thought someone new, maybe Swagger would get a shot,or hell, even Sheamus since they just moved him that night.
    But nope,same old shit.
I think they've done every single match possibility now between Cena/HHH/Michaels/Orton.
    It's ridiculous.

Well if they made Sheamus look good enough it could work.
Had he brutally attacked Cena or something.
After all, didn't this guy main event for ROH before and is known around the world as a great wrestler?

I don't think Swagger would've been ridiculous.. of course depending on how he was booked.

That said, Cena did a good job of hyping this on RAW. Despite WWE building this up terribly, Cena's commentary on RAW actually made me somewhat interested.

JeriShow and DX would have been a good choice for a traditional SurSer match, but if it meant having Orton vs. Cena then fine. I am looking forward to the probability of Team Kingston vs. Team Orton and then this main event. I hope DX splits up and HHH goes heel giving Raw another much needed heel star. I actually want Cena to retain here because i don't see HBK getting the title...
