    Andrei Arlovski vs. Shane Carwin
    Next up is a match in which 'The Pitbull' Andrei Arlovski takes on 'The Monster' Shane Carwin in the UFC Heavyweight division.
    A place in the semi-finals of tonight's tournament is at stake.

    Round one begins!
    Carwin circles, looking for an opening. Arlovski doesn't let Carwin settle, stepping in closer to impose himself. Arlovski counters a wayward jab with a sharp body kick. Carwin counters an attempted body kick with a crisp jab. Arlovski counters a jab with a picture-perfect roundhouse kick to the side of the ribs. Arlovski counters a jab by hitting a body kick. Arlovski avoids a quick jab and hits a kick to the ribs. We move into the second half of this round. A speculative waist-high kick by Carwin finds nothing but air. Arlovski comes in closer to press the issue. Carwin uses a jab to keep Arlovski back. Carwin throws a combination but doesn't do any damage. Arlovski presses in closer to attack. Carwin counters a wayward low kick with a solid jab. There's under a minute left in this round. They come together and throw strikes, both miss. Carwin counters a wayward low kick with a clean punch.     Arlovski avoids several big punches and counters with a sequence of quick punches. Carwin tries for a series of strikes but Arlovski moves out of range. Arlovski throws a head kick but Carwin avoids it. Carwin switches stances, throws a speculative punch, then switches right back again. Arlovski doesn't press the issue, allowing Carwin to circle. Carwin counters a flurry of punches with a massive punch, knocking Arlovski down to the ground...he is out cold! The winner, by Knock Out; Shane Carwin!

    An exchange of blows doesn't really produce any damage or a clear advantage. Having stepped in close to throw their strikes, they end up clinched. Fedor and Kongo break the grapple and are apart again, circling. Both fighters exchange strikes, but neither hits anything significant. Fedor avoids a body kick. Fedor avoids a jab and scores with a body kick Fedor narrowly misses Kongo with an uppercut. Kongo presses in closer to attack. We pass the halfway mark of this round. They come together and strike, but neither can get past the gloves of the other. Kongo circles around Fedor. Not letting up, Fedor quickly steps in closer to attack Kongo. Kongo throws a leg kick but Fedor avoids it. Kongo throws a flurry of punches but Fedor steps back and avoids them. The end of the round is coming quick, there's under a minute left. Kongo sneaks a glance at his corner. Not letting up, Fedor quickly steps in closer to attack Kongo. A quick exchange of strikes produces nothing worth mentioning. Fedor moves in quickly after a wayward punch and hits a kick to the side of the ribs. Round one ends as time expires. That has to go down as a 10-9 round to Fedor.

    Round two begins!
    Kongo uses a right hook, but misses. Fedor steps in closer to force the issue. There's a stalemate as both fighters throw strikes, but neither scores. Having stepped in close to throw their strikes, they end up clinched. The grappling doesn't last long, as they soon break away from each other. Fedor looks to be trying to close the distance between them. Kongo ends up grappling for supremacy with Fedor. The grapple breaks up after a short struggle, and the two fighters step apart. Fedor fires off a looping punch, but Kongo avoids it. Kongo doesn't let Fedor settle, stepping in closer to impose himself. We are now at the halfway point of the round. Fedor counters a jab with a barrage of huge punches, trapping Kongo against the cage! The referee jumps in and saves Kongo from taking any more shots! By TKO, the winner is Fedor!

Couture tries to get double underhooks on Minotauro so that he can get some control, but can't get them. Minotauro lies on top of Couture, basically smothering him. Minotauro is trying to pass guard. He finds himself unable to pass guard on this attempt. Minotauro doesn't allow Couture to lock him up with double underhooks. Minotauro is trying to pass guard. He can't quite manage to get past guard on this attempt. Couture tries to pull Minotauro in close and pepper him with short strikes, but can't. We go past the halfway point of this round. With no progress being made, the referee brings the fighters back to their feet. There is an exchange of strikes, but neither fighter does any damage. They come together and strike, but neither can get past the gloves of the other. We have one minute of the round remaining. Couture uses a combination of three punches to get Minotauro to cover up, then shoots in looking for a takedown. Minotauro saw the takedown coming, he tries to grab a guillotine. He has the takedown! Minotauro pulls guard. Couture tries to control Minotauro against the ground, but finds it a struggle. Minotauro tries to ensare Couture in a guillotine. Couture pulls his head free before the hold can be applied properly. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. That was a close round, but I'm giving it to Minotauro, 10-9.

    Couture avoids a quick jab and hits a stinging jab. Minotauro tries for a series of strikes but Couture moves out of range. Both fighters come in and exchange strikes, but neither does any damage. Couture counters a wayward jab with a flurry of quick punches to sting Minotauro. Minotauro counters a missed punch with a jab. Couture comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Minotauro. Couture grapples with Minotauro, who made no attempt to escape. Couture hits Minotauro with some short strikes to the side of the head while grappling. We go past the halfway point of this round. Couture tries to take Minotauro down from the grapple. The takedown doesn't work, Minotauro blocked it and then takes control of the grapple. Minotauro attempts to pick Couture up for a slam. Couture defends it excellently though, slipping behind and taking the back of Minotauro! Couture attempts a rear naked choke. Minotauro fights off the rear naked choke attempt. Minotauro tries to move Couture off his back but can't. Couture attempts to set up an rear naked choke on Minotauro. Minotauro fights off the rear naked choke attempt. Minotauro tries to move Couture off his back but can't. We have one minute of the round remaining. Couture tries to flatten Minotauro out for a rear naked choke. Minotauro stops Couture from getting the hooks in or flattening him out. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira looks very tired out there. Round two ends as time expires. I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Couture.

    It sounded like his corner told Minotauro to attempt to get Couture to the floor in this round. Couture comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Minotauro. Minotauro tries to catch him by surprise with a takedown attempt, but it is blocked. Couture looks to be trying to close the distance between them. Couture grapples with Minotauro, who made no attempt to escape. Couture is trying to muscle Minotauro up against the cage. Couture achieves it, pinning Minotauro to the cage. Minotauro is controlled up against the cage for over a minute, completely unable to break free. Couture looks for a trip takedown. Couture doesn't get the takedown, Minotauro instead wrestles his way into controlling the grapple. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira looks very, very tired. We go past the halfway point of this round. Minotauro tries to take Couture down. Couture will not go down, he blocks the takedown despite the best efforts of Minotauro. With Couture stuck against the cage, Minotauro tries to complete a takedown. He has the takedown; Couture didn't even seem to fight it, and simply pulls guard. Couture tries to ensare Minotauro in a triangle. Minotauro doesn't let Couture get it. Couture doesn't allow Minotauro to smother him against the ground. Couture grabs Minotauro and draws him in close, smothering him. We move into the final sixty seconds of this round. Minotauro fires off a few punches, but they aren't thrown with any great force. Minotauro fires off a few punches as he catches his breath. Time runs out and that's the end of the fight! I think Couture took that round, 10-9 on my score card.

Lesnar dives in, but Mir pushes him away and starts to scramble. The scramble leaves Lesnar on his back pulling half guard. Mir throws a few punches, but they appear to be more of a prelude to something bigger. Lesnar takes the opportunity to transition from half guard to full guard. We've now passed the halfway mark in this round. Mir throws a few half-hearted punches as he takes a moment to plan ahead. Lesnar grabs Mir and draws him in close, smothering him. Mir throws a few weak-looking punches as he decides on his next move. Mir fires off a handful of punches, each easily being blocked with gloves. The end of the round is coming quick, there's under a minute left. Mir throws a few strikes, but they are without venom. Mir fires off a few punches as he catches his breath. Time expires and we come to the end of round one. I'd say that was definitely 10-9 in favour of Mir.

    Lesnar comes in, looking for a quick takedown. Mir saw the takedown coming, he tries to grab a guillotine. The takedown is successful, he almost gets side control but has to settle for half guard. Lesnar is trying to get out of half guard and into a better position. Mir comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Lesnar in half guard. Lesnar blocks Mir as he tries a transition to full guard. Lesnar is trying to get out of half guard and into a better position. Not letting up, Fedor steps in closer to pressure Carwin into action. Fedor comes in, looking for a quick takedown. Carwin sprawls well, and Fedor is forced down to his knees, almost turtled up. Fedor takes a few punches on the way, but manages to get back to standing. Carwin comes in closer, looking to wrestle with Fedor. Not wanting to grapple, Fedor uses strikes to keep Carwin at a distance. Fedor uses a combination of three punches to get Carwin to cover up, then shoots in looking for a takedown. Carwin cannot stop the takedown, and has to pull guard. We pass the halfway mark of this round. Carwin is controlled against the ground, unable to shift Fedor off of him. Fedor fires away with punches, but Carwin deals with them fairly well. Carwin tries to catch Fedor with a punch, but it is not on target. Fedor attempts to pass guard. He does excellently, getting past the guard and into side control. We have one minute of the round remaining. Fedor tries to get into the mount position. Fedor shifts to mount. Fedor uses a combination of three punches to get Couture to cover up, then shoots in looking for a takedown. The takedown is successful, Couture pulls guard. Fedor tries to pass the guard. Couture comfortably blocks the attempt and keeps Fedor in guard. Couture throws out some punches, but Fedor leans back to avoid them. We move into the second half of this round. Fedor smothers Couture with his body by pushing forward and down. The clock runs down as Couture is being smothered against the ground by Fedor.
