Re: Opening Day Premier League Fixtures

The only thing I look for on a fixture list is the final 10 games. For the most part the first match of the season isn't important. You've got to play all the teams anyway.

Last year I thought Stoke would have momentum going into their first Premiership game. Bolton were a team we could beat, or so I thought. We lost 3-1. I could look at Burnley and think they have momentum going into the Stoke game, but they're playing away so I think a win is unlikely for them.

...And, by far the biggest League 1 fixture of the opening day, Southampton v Millwall.

Most Newcastle matches will be intresting from somebody looking in on the club. That's a brilliant opening day match from a neutral standpoint.

Home game for Cardiff on the opening day, can't really complain. With a bit of luck I'll get myself down to that game at the new stadium.

Oh they certainly will. It'll be everyone's cup final playing against them. It'll be interesting to see if Newcastle's attendances suffer from a drop in leagues.

It's only natural that they will. There's clearly some appeal when it comes to losing to Man Utd, that's the only reason you can explain the higher attendances for a game like that and others similar. I doubt a loss to Scunthorpe holds the same appeal.

Good start for Sunderland to hit the ground running.

Chelsea is the only bump we have within the first couple of months, should be able to get a few points hopefully.
