    - ROH "TV Taping" 4/9 & 4/10 Card & Results Thread -

Doing in 'em in one thread again due to 'em being TV tapings and whatnot.

Philadelphia, PA- ''TV Taping'' April 9th

Main Event #1- Special Challenge Match
    Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong

    Main Event #2- Return Match
    Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black

Main Event #3- Non Title Match
Kevin Steen & El Generico vs. Kenny King & Rhett Titus

Philadelphia, PA - "TV Taping" April 10th

TV Main Event #1 - Tag Team Grudge Match

Jimmy Jacobs & Brodie Lee vs Delirious & The Necro Butcher

TV Main Event #2 - World Tag Team Title Tables Are Legal Match

Kevin Steen & El Generico vs The American Wolves

    Special Challenge Match

    Chris Hero vs Eddie Kingston

Needless to say if it wasn't for Kingston/Hero (which by all rights should be the fucking shit) my interest in this line-up would be nil. I couldn't even enjoy Dragon/Aries so I don't expect much from the TV matches. Killing my interest even more is that these have nearly all happened recently already. Wasn't it the last doubleshot or the one before where we had Aries/Strong and Steenerico/KingTitus? Just show those. Also, I thought the Necro/Jacobs match from the last show was the fued-ender? Tables are Legal matches were done during the Gabe-era and were horrible then too. But yeah.... Kingston/Hero should be all sorts of nasty.

I don't see much good coming out of repeating another main event with Dragon/Tyler. Sure, it has potential to top Dragon/Aries as the best HDNet match, but if Tyler is going to finally go over, I'd rather it happen on a DVD show or PPV.

The AOTF tag shouldn't main event a regular show. I see this as introducing the fans to the lame, typical brawl.

Aries/Strong and the tables match I am looking forward to, however. Pretty cool that Strong's TV debut is the main event.

when you are showing a relatively "New" product like ROH to the TV masses, it is much more important to showcase the talent in a fashion that gets them over to the fans that may be interested in the different alternative than WWE or TNA and ROH has that platform. You have to take yourself outside of the Smart Mark fan like attitude to understand that the TV show itself isn't just catered to one bases, it has to be presented in the beginning to the entire masses and showcase the best of what ROH's got. I like what ROH has put on so far in their first three shows but Hog has to improve at what he is doing or get off the tv screen. Another key element to getting better at TV is getting the crowd more interested in the show by running some stuff that isn't featured on TV. I'm though still very interested to what becomes of ROH from this 2nd round of tapings.

I wouldn't exactly call an AOTF tag match the "best of what ROH's got". I'd say it's the worst. If we get a decent tag match out of this with maybe a chairshot behind the ref's back or something, I'm fine with that. If we get Necro's weak as fuck punches, crowd brawling, plastic chairs, Daizee Haze, and a No Contest finish, then lame.

I have to wonder wether you have been watching the HDNet series because they really havent been offering an alternative to WWE and TNA. They have been giving basic wrestling that is on the same level as most WWE tv matches, only without all the sports-entertainment stuff. That wouldn't be so bad if the booking for shows was totally lacking in direction. People aren't going to be interested in seeing constant showcases if they don't seem to be leading to anything and the talent isn't showcased regularly.

ROH on HDNet TV Tapings - April 9th, 2009, The Arena, Philadelphia, PA

    RESULTS

    Preshow

    a) 6 man with "all jobbers I don't know".

    b) Bobby Dempsey over a Ninja.

    c) Japan Ninja defeats "some blonde guy".

    ***Attendance is estimated at 350.***

    Main Show

Ric Flair was introduced as the new Ambassador for ROH. He brought out ROH champ Jerry Lynn and praised him. They talked about wrestling in 1985. Austin Aries came out and said he was the man and was the former champ and would prove tonight he was at the top of the ROH pecking order.

    1. Chris Hero defeats Kenny Omega with a roaring loaded elbow. Nice short match.

    2. Necro Butcher defeats Brodie Lee via some kind of roll up.

    3. Erick Stevens defeats Sal Rinauro. Sounded like a squash to me.

    4. Austin Aries defeats Roderick Strong with a brainbuster. Sweet match as expected. Aries goes for a handshake but Roddy chops him instead.

    ***Short intermission between episodes***

Second taping. Half the crowd went home. Sucks.

Colt Cabana out for a promo. Prince Nana interrupts. Colt punches Ernie Osiris and runs them off.

    5. Delirious and Daizee Haze defeat Jimmy Jacobs and MsChif when Daizee Haze pins MsChif with the Mindtrick.

Nigel cuts a promo. Says he's going to heal up and return to take his title back. He also said that being ROH champion is like being with a pornstar. Everyone is jealous but you don't know how long you will last.

    6. American Wolves destroy two enhancement performers. They did an in-ring promo promising to take out El Generico and Kevin Steen.

    7. Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black. Double count out. Tyler attempts Phoenix Splash, Dragon pushes him off. CRUSHES A FAN IN THE FRONT ROW. Then Dragon flies at him, they keep preventing one another from getting back in the ring. Stupid fan throws a chair in. ARIES COMES FUMING OUT. I rat him out. Zack takes care of him.

    8. Claudio Castagnoli defeats Brent Albright after a distraction by Ernie Osiris and Prince Nana led to a lowblow. Claudio goes to attack Albright with a chair stomp to the head but Colt saves him.

    9. The Dark City Fight Club defeated Grizzly Redwood and Alex Sugarfoor Payne.

Ric Flair announced the first ROH title bout on HD Net will be Jerry Lynn vs. Austin Aries vs. Bryan Danielson vs. Tyler Black.

Flair then cut an awesome promo putting over Philadelphia, mentioning ECW and spouting all the classic Flair-isms. Closes with "Woo, the Ric Flair definitive collection is softcore porn for ladies."

    10. Jay Briscoe defeats Sami Callihan.

    11. Kevin Steen and El Generico defeat Kenny King and Rhett Titus. Good match. After the match the Wolves came out and beat down the champs. Generico takes a Doomsday cutter through a table.

Ric Flair and KENTA are announced for the return in May (29th and 30th). End of show.

Doesn't really sound like a good show to me, apart from the promos. I'm thinking maybe the crowd left because it was a Thursday, so the kids would have school and the adults work, but that's still pretty shit. Same for that idiot throwing in a chair, he hit the camera. Hopefully they consider changing the venue for tapings.

And the new champion not getting a match? What the fuck? Are they delibirately making the title seem meaningless on TV? I mean, first Nigel barely getting any mention, then that 30 second Breaking News thing (and they still referred to Nigel as the champ throughout the night).

Actually sounds better than expected to me, well, as long as they stick those promos and segments and whatnot on TV. Flair on tv is ehhhhhhh, hopefully it will draw more people in but I can only imagine what that's costing them along with bringing back KENTA AGAIN.

Claudio is in The Embassy now by the look of things?

American Wolves is bitter sweet to me. They are great, but this may delay Richards eventual push.

Regardless I am enjoying the Wolves/Steenirco feud for now.

    Re: - ROH "TV Taping" 4/9 & 4/10 Card & Results Thread -

    Attendance: 500-600 during 1st show

    main show:

    3rd show:
-world title 4 way: jerry Lynn wins after Lynn pins Dragon after a Cradle Piledriver. "really good match"
-Bobby Dempsey v Sal Rinaro: Dempsey wins in an almost squash
-Colt Cabana and Brent Albright v Claidio Castignoli and Ernie Osris: Colt wins with a backbreaker.

    2nd show
-Kevin Steen and El Generico v The American Wolves: New Tag Champs! This was a tables match.
-Erick Stevens v Sami Calhoun: Stevens wins in a good squash.
-SHIMMER 3 Way: Sara Del Ray v Daizee Haze v MsChief: MsChief win. Jimmy cuts a pro SHIMMER promo
-Roderick Strong v Rhett Titus: Roddy wins with a GutBuster. "roddy uses 'A Victim A Target'" as music.

    1st Show
-Necro Butcher and Delirious v AotF: Butcher and Deli win after Shadows over Hell.
-Eddie Kingston v Chris Hero: Hero wins by DQ when King dosnt break by 5 while in the ropes. "crowd was pissed"
-DCFC v Irish Airborn: DCFC win, nice squash.
-Kenny King v Kenny Omega v Jay Briscoe: KO wins, Jay busted open hard way.
-American Wolves Promo: good promo, ends with Hagadorn getting put thru a table.

American Wolves will make great champs and hopefully Davey will get his big singles push once their reign is over. Gabe and Pearce utterly failed at Steenerico's run when they had such an epic buildup going into it, it wasn't even until Mark Briscoe got injured that they were treated like the actual top team and that is just nonsense, imo.
