    Re: Top Ten Favorite Bands

    No order

    Saliva
-Have been listening to them since 6th grade, i've found I can usually listen to a whole cd without skipping any tracks, and they have made pretty good themes for wrestlers like Jericho,Batista and even the dudleys. Great band to play for crusing around with other car fanatics like me

    Korn
-First heard them from my dad and instantly bought follow the leader, again in middle school all tracks on the cd were great and got me hooked into them, I eventually bought all their cds and have bought every new one that they release, just kick ass band for any mood

    Slipknot
-Just a step above Mushroomhead but not by much imo but corey taylor kicks ass at vocals and every one else seems to do their part to help the band go platinum with the majority of their albums

    Rev Theory
    - first heard of them last year as mania 24's theme and started to listen to all their songs. I instanlty became hooked.

    Mudvayne
-Dig was the first track i had heard from this band and I was instanly hooked with the heavy riffs that they played, they seemed to have toned it down a bit but for the better as theyu seem to have developed their own sound

    Hellyeah
    - Chad and Greg from Mudvayne formed this group along with vinnie Paul to develop great country/metal that has grown drastically in popularity throughout the South

    P.O.D.
    - First heard of them through MTV actually when they were still playing music videos they played Alive. I at first didn't take any liking to them until a couple years later when I heard "Boom" I've been a fan ever since as every album they bring out has multiple tracks that sound amazing

    Linkin Park
-Crawling in my skin was the initial track that had me begging for more from this group, they always seem to make each album better and better with the Exception of Minutes to Midnight, for some reason I feel like it was a step back for the band compared to meteora, nonetheless a couple of the tracks like Bleed it out and Given up make this Album bearable. I still see this band doing great things in the future

    Five Finger Death Punch
-Never enough Was the first track I overheard on the radio and I was quite certain that it was Motograter (Ivan Moody was the vocalist for the band) after hearing it for several weeks I decided to see what else they had. Tracks like The Bleeding, Ashes and Meet the monster this band worth it to check out

    Disturbed
    - My best friend in Grade school actually got me hooked on Disturbed when they first started out with the Sickness and in a way set the tone for all my future NU-metal taste in Genre. Unfortunately all the albums that have followed the sickness have come up short in my eyes as the pure greatness that was the sickness I don't think Disturbed will ever be able to top it, but every able is worth it to check out.

TOP 10 BANDS (in no order)

    • Buckcherry - When I first heard the song Crazy Bitch, I fell in love with their music. I saw them in concert last year, I loved every minute of their performances.

    • Korn - I first listened to this band when I was in middle school, everybody jumped on the Korn bandwagon. The band's not the same without Brian Welch, but they'll always be in my book as one of my favorite bands.

    • Slipknot - My older brother's responsible for getting me into Slipknot. The first song I ever heard from them was Spit It Out, from the mix heavy metal CD, The Hard & the Heavy that I got for Christmas back in '99 and I still listen to them til this day.

    • Tool - The first time I ever witness the band was in 2001 when I watched their music video, Lateralus. They both got me into listening to their music and they had a bunch of great hits. Their music's different from any of the music that's on the radio past & present and that's why I like this band.

    • Led Zeppelin - IMO, this is the greatest band that ever came out of England. This is one of the bands I grew up listening to with my mom and dad. They got some hits that have been played on the radio that will never be forgotten. They sold 300 million albums because people buy them and love the music. I will still and forever listen to this band's music til the day I die.

    • Pink Floyd - This is another one of Britain's very own. This band's like Led Zeppelin: They released unforgettable songs that are still on the air and it's enjoyable for everybody because there's rarely any bad language and it doesn't suck ass. The Dark Side of the Moon's considered one of the best CDs ever released. Like all the classic rock bands, I grew up listening to this music as well. Their songs like, Brick in the Wall, Money, Time, Us and Them, Learning to Fly, and so on, is why I like this band.

    • Metallica - One of the best heavy metal bands of all time. The very first album I listen to, was the Black Album and that's when I was 7 years old. Almost every song on the album was my favorite: Enter Sandman, Sad but True, The Unforgiven, Of Wolf and Men, Nothing Else Matters, and so on. I can careless if they cut their hair off and switch to mainstream, they're always one of my favs.

    • Mushroomhead - A friend of mine sent me two songs from the band, and it got me into wanting more of their music. I'm sick of Slipknot fans of copying their appearances and shit and I'm sick of Mushroomhead fans of doing the same. They're both great bands in their own rights. My favorite songs are Almost Gone, Sun Doesn't Rise, and the wrist.

    • Lynyrd Skynyrd - My dad was very big on this band and their music. He always crank on Lynyrd Skynyrd everywhere he went and me and my siblings followed the music. Everytime I get bored, sad, or wanting to listen to some shit, I sometimes crank some Lynyrd Skynyrd in my MP3 player. Sweet Home Alabama, Simple Man, Gimme Three Steps, Free Bird, Tuesday's gone, the list goes on as those songs what made them famous. It sucks balls that some of the band members, including Ronnie Van Zant, were killed in that October 20th day in 1977, their music will live on for generations.

    • Disturbed - This is a band that I can relate to. This is one of the bands that's somewhat keeping Nu-Metal alive today. I started listening to Disturbed when I first got satellite. I hardly listened to radio in that period, because I just don't. I won't forget songs like Down with the Sickness, Stupify, Prayer, The Game, and Inside the Fire, because it's great music.

    Re: Top Ten Favorite Bands

    1. Metallica - been my favorite for a long long time and that isn't about to change now. Saw them twice in December and they are still amazing live.
    2. Tool - simply amazing.
    3. System of a Down - for some reason, a band I often overlook when considering favorites. Yet I have tons of their stuff and rarely skip one of their songs.
    4. Pink Floyd - what can you say about Floyd that isn't already known?
    5. Guns n' Roses - the old stuff is amazing, and the new album is very good. I think the "real" GnR was the last great American rock n' roll band.
    6. Slipknot - I sometimes get the feeling that Slipknot fans are supposed to be angry 15 year old males.
    7. In Flames - mainly on the strength of A Sense of Purpose. Their earlier stuff is very good, but some of it I like, some not so much.
    8. Iron Maiden - incomparable. Might actually be higher on the list.
    9. Megadeth - they used to be much higher on the list, but they've slid down in recent years. Some of their early stuff still holds up well, but quite as well as comparative era Metallica.
    10. Shinedown - I got on the bandwagon a little late, but they are one of the best straight-up rock bands out there right now.
Tough to make a list like this, as you leave off so many great bands. The Who, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Killswitch Engage, Korn, Green Day, Led Zeppelin, Marilyn Manson...
EVERY ENDING IS A NEW BEGINNING.

    Re: Top Ten Favorite Bands

Tommy Red, internet high five for liking Dream Theater, Megadeth, Opeth and Slayer.

    1. Metallica - I love fucking love Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets and ...And Justice For All. They are 4 of my all time favourite albums. They are also incredible live. I saw them for the 5th time just over a week ago. It was probably the best gig I have ever been to.
    2. Megadeth - Mustaine is god. I worship their old albums.
    3. Opeth - Their music is just great. They have so many songs which I consider to be absolute masterpieces. Akerfeldt is the fucking man.
4.Dream Theater - Their technical ability is off the scale, and some of their music is just mind blowing.
5.Pantera - They were just a fucking great metal band.
    6. Slayer - SLAYEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
    7. Testament - Most underrated thrash metal band ever. Alex Skolnik is also a very underrated guitarist.
    8. Machine Head - The Blackening is one of the best albums of this decade.
    9.System Of A Down
    10. A tie between Alice In Chains, Exodus, Anthrax, Sepultura, Down, Death and more which I can't be bothered to list.

    Re: Top Ten Favorite Bands

    In no real order....:

AC/DC: The first band I truly loved. Nearly every song from the Bon Scott era I love deeply and a good portion of songs from Brian Johnson as well. True rock icons and I just love them. My dad got me into them.

Slipknot: I heard Wait and Bleed when I was like... 9 or 10 and I loved it but I never knew who made it and all that. About five or six years ago I found out once again and fell in love with them. Loved them since and love each album from the first to the most recent. In fact, I feel that they've only improved since the first album.

Marilyn Manson: A musical genius who's just incredible. An artist of the truest form. No idea how I got into his music but I have been for at least three-four years, heavily.

Besides those bands, I love many others like:

    Stone Sour
    Mushroomhead
    Slayer
    Pantera
Megadeth (more so thanks to Tom)
    Metallica
    Hatebreed
    Lamb of God
    Children of Bodom
    Bullet For My Valentine
    Atreyu
    Avenged Sevenfold
    Disturbed
    Mudvayne
the list goes on and on.

    Spoiler:

I solemnly swear I am up to no good

    Re: Top Ten Favorite Bands

Not really a lot of punk fans on here are there! Think Catalyst_009 (i feel stupid typing that but i don't know your name, sorry!) has about the closest taste to myself.

I'm gonna attach videos since most of you will probably have never heard of some of these bands. I hope that's cool and hope you'll check some of them out

So, as far as top 10, probably...

Lightyear - One of the best and most fun live bands on the planet. Sadly split up a few years ago, but i was lucky enough to see them a fair few times. Fun british ska punk with brilliant lyrics.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbxuSrLypKk

Less Than Jake - Just the best band in the world at writing huge anthemic ska punk, even with their most recent offerings being a bit on the bland side.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij02akC2rHY

Rise Against - At times they can be a tad too preachy, but their energy and passion is second to none. They've gone a bit soft in their old age too, too many acoustic filler tracks and not enough fast punk!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRthtyjbvsk

The Aquabats - Loved them when they were a ska band, love them even more now they're playing kooky keyboard pop punk. Definitely the best band Travis Barker has ever been in :p

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4tw6vBbwVY

Capdown - The epitomy of what i love about music. Fast punk mixed up with ska and reggae, amazing vocals and lyrics, topped off with the best use of a saxaphone outside of a porn film.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr9tDjf0Nc4

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Massive tunes, so influential and just such a fun band. Gutted i still haven't gotten the chance to see them live.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4wdzGlv_kg

A Wilhelm Scream - Brutal punk with some of the best lead guitar work, bass lines and vocal harmonies, well, ever. To be this fast and brutal yet so technical, it's astounding.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5E1UX4eiBI

RX Bandits - A band that's really influenced me a lot as a songwriter and as a music fan. Hard to describe really. Started off life as a ska punk band, but as most bands have done in recent times, they slowly transgressed that genre into more of a mainstream rock sound, whilst keeping the horns and incorporating a lot of progressive stuff in there. You really owe it to yourself to listen to this band, they make beautiful music.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq0j2Ot1NHo

No Comply - Only got into these since they split up, which was a shame! I did see them a couple of times, though i wasn't into them at the time. Massive metal riffs with huge horn lines and shouty girl vocals. Works a lot better than it should do!

No Comply - The Price Of You
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10bBLdtawv0

No Doubt - Mainly old school stuff, but i do enjoy the newer stuff too, no matter how poppy it is! A band that i followed religiously when i was in my early teens, so i guess they still hold a big sentimental place in my heart.
