G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009)

Release Date: August 7, 2009
Studio: Paramount Pictures
Director: Stephen Sommers
Screenwriter: Stuart Beattie
Starring: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Byung Hun Lee, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park, Said Taghmaoui, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Dennis Quaid
Genre: Action, Adventure
MPAA Rating: Not Available
Official Website: GIJoemovie.com
Plot Summary: The movie will be a modern telling of the "G.I. Joe vs. Cobra" storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their "fight for freedom wherever there is trouble" against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force. This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the "Pit" as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established.

So are they supposed to be a World force and not a U.S. force or what?

Really?

I didn't think any established actors would want anything to do with this film.

Yes...Voltron is in the works too.

Prepare for the 80's surge now that Transformers made money.

And yes Dak Clooney is looking for a big action film since his Batman thing was a bust.

He think this will do wonders for his "career" from whats being said

Sienna Miller Recruited for G.I. Joe

Sienna Miller is the first actor to enlist in Paramount Pictures' big-budget tentpole G.I. Joe, reports Variety.

The British actress will play the film's female lead, described as a raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage.

Stephen Sommers directs the live-action film based on the Hasbro toys, comic book and TV series.

Paramount, which has set a mid-February start date, has slotted the film for an August 7, 2009, release.

The story is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) is producing alongside Hasbro's Brian Goldner.

We Know Who Scarlett And Storm Shadow Are For G.I. Joe!

Happy Holidays ya'll!

We are at it again!

We have been pretty quiet on the G.I. JOE front so we figured as a Christmas gift to the fans we give you these two casting exclusives for Stephen Sommer’s big screen live-action adaptation of "G.I. Joe."

This is coming from our proven sources!

Storm Shadow aka Tommy S. Arashikage, Snake-Eye's brother and rival will be played by Korean Mega Star BYEONG-HEON LEE!

For all you gamers out there, his likeness was used for the main character in Capcom's game LOST PLANET.

He just wrapped a movie with Josh Harnett called, "I Come With The Rain"

His spelling under IMDB is Byung-Hun Lee. Check out his Bio "HERE"

This guy is a mega star in his native Korea. There is also a current Korean pop culture boom going on in Japan right now because of the Korean drama WINTER SONATA which he is in.

For those of you readers who are not familiar with Storm Shadow here is a little info on the character.

Storm Shadow's real name is Thomas S. Arashikage. Best known as the Cobra Commander's ninja bodyguard and assassin at times, he is the only member of the team to change sides several times, conflicted in loyalties between Cobra, G.I. Joe and his long relationship with his swordbrother Snake-Eyes. He usually wears a white uniform and mask. When out of his uniform, he is shown to be Japanese, with black hair and dark eyes. In 2007, the character's creator Larry Hama revealed an alternate name for the character, Tomisaburo Arashikage, in the solo series Storm Shadow. Although Tomisaburo is a single Japanese name, it may stand in for his middle initial in: Tommy/Thomas S Arashikage.

What about Shana "SCARLETT" O' Hara?

RACHEL NICHOLS!

She will next be seen in CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR. ALIAS fans will remember her as the girl who played RACHEL GIBSON.

Rachel is an Amazon! She stands at 5'10". She was also Yahoo's Model of the month back in September 2000.

For those of you readers who are not familiar with Scarlett here is a little info on her character.

She was the first female action figure in the G.I. Joe toy line and is also the only member of the original team to see much action in both cartoon and comic incarnations. The official line on Scarlett is that her full name is Shana M. O'Hara. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Although she is as adept with standard weapons as any of her comrades, her weapon of choice is the crossbow, which fires various bolts with specialized functions. Her rank is Master Sergeant, and she serves from time to time as team leader. Her primary specialty for the team is counter intelligence and is additionally skilled in martial arts and acrobatics.

She has long red hair, which she tends to put up into a pony tail. In some of her appearances, it is shown she may speak with a southern drawl or localized Georgian Accent.

Her quote is "Beauty may only be skin deep, but lethal is to the bone"

G.I. Joe is due out to hit theaters on August 7th 2009.
