Christian Bale to Star in Terminator Salvation?
Christian Bale (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins) has been cast as John Connor in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, says Ain't It Cool News.
McG is directing the summer 2009 release, which has an early 2008 production start and seeks to reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-movie span. Warner Bros. will distribute domestically.
The screenplay was written by Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines duo John Brancato and Michael Ferris.
The film is set in the future, in a full-scale war between Skynet and humankind.

Devin Faraci at CHUD also heard the rumor about Christian Bale in Terminator Salvation and was working on getting confirmation or denial from Bale’s representation when Harry Knowles @ AICN broke the story first. However, what’s different about the CHUD version is that the industry source that talked to Faraci told him that Bale would be playing a Terminator and not John Connor.
Fast-forward a couple of hours later and now Faraci has heard from a different source that claims Bale isn’t playing a Terminator or Connor but a new character in the Terminator mythos. Huzzah?
My guts tell me that if Christian Bale is getting a role in Terminator Salvation he’s going to be playing John Connor or a Terminator and not some new guy we’ve never heard of. Bale’s too big a star now and the new owners of the Terminator would be stupid to take a chance like that and not have an A-list principal play one of the two established male character roles in the franchise—and I don’t think the people that laid down that kind of money for the rights to Terminator are stupid.
This is going down and the deal’s likely been delayed because of Thanksgiving. I’m betting that hear the announcement sometime in the next two weeks.

If Bale does end up signing I will actually be excited for this.
