I've been following news of this movie for a few weeks. Over on the site, it has a demand button where you can try requesting a showing in your city. This is this decade's version of The Blair Witch Project for sure.

Paranormal Activity Gets Full Limited Release on Oct. 9!
Source:L.A. Times
October 4, 2009
Quote:
The L.A. Times is reporting that after another terrific weekend of sell-out midnight shows in 33 locations, adding up to an astounding weekend take of $535 thousand, Oren Peli's independently-made low budget horror film Paranormal Activity will be given a full theatrical release by Paramount Pictures on October 9 in all of the cities where it's currently playing plus ten additional cities. This means that you won't have to stay up past midnight in order to see the movie for the first time since it opened for midnight screenings in select cities on September 25. Apparently, Paramount's unconventional marketing and distribution of the movie that reportedly cost $11,000 has successfully turned it into a buzzworthy sleeper hit, and one can presume that its continued success could eventually lead to a nationwide release, or at least let's hope so.
Def want to see this.

Woo! Chicago is number 3. I'll have to see it if it ends up coming here.

This looks like it has a lot of promise. I'm definitely in to see it. I may even take the trip to Chicago to see it if it doesn't open anywhere around here.
Well now this is in theaters everywhere which will be a HUGE profit for the budget spent on this movie. But yeah, I went to see it yesterday with my girlfriend. I didn't find it all that great. Built up suspense fantastically and definitely made you think that it was a true haunting. They did everything great, but I personally wasn't effected by it all. My girlfriend ended up crying at the end of it she was so scared and a bunch of other girls were freaking out during the movie. So I liked being there in the theater to see how much emotion the movie caused to arise. But I personally didn't find it anything frightening.

This one is being expected to break the record for budget-to-profit ratio. The Blair Witch Project currently holds that. It apparently made 8m already!
