The first three at least were perfectly justifiable from an artistic standpoint. The second is great because you actually get to know Jigsaw as a character, and Tobin Bell is excellent. If it was just the first, you'd have so many questions about the man behind it.
I personally think I-IV are all very enjoyable. V was a letdown though.

You're absoloutely right, I would have been fairly pissed off if there wasn't a sequel. I loved the concept of the second movie, the twist at the end was great. I just think that now, alot of it is about how the people die; lets see if the next death can top the last. Don't get me wrong, I like the Saw Movies; I watch them and buy the DVD's, I just think that's the road the films have now gone down. I agree Saw V was a let down btw, there was a severe lack of Jigsaw. Either way, i'll watch this film, and i'll mark the fuck out if Dr Gordon is revealed to be the guy doing the deaths, I don't think we ever got real closure on him, I might be wrong though, i've not watched the Saw films for nearly a year.

I saw this last night, and, without giving anything away about the movie, I will say I recommend it. I enjoyed it better than Part V, but not as much as the original (the best) or part IV (because they dove into much of John's backstory to explain why he acts the way he does).
Obviously, after watching Saw V you know that Hoffman is now the sole executor of the game following the deaths of predecessors. The first trap in the movie is pretty gory, but overall I'll say this one wasn't "overly crazy" with the amount of gore in it. Still par for the course by "Saw" standards though.
The problem with part V for me was that the ending was completely predictable..the reason I enjoy these movies so much is for the (usually) big twist at the end. For part VI, I was able to correctly deduce part of the ending, but there were still a few big surprises for me. Of course, they left it open ended for Part VII, which I'm sure is being written as we speak.
Overall, if you're a fan of the series, I'd say go see it. If you have fallen off the "Saw" band wagon the past few years, you'd be pretty lost in the plot so there isn't much reason to go. It seems like they are starting to really stretch things with flashbacks of John "Jigsaw" Kramer, and revealing how planned out many of his future victims were. His victims in this movie made sense, but I don't know how much longer they can continue the charade of John picking the victims still, considering he died 3 movies ago.
