He literally told the Rays not to retaliate by sliding hard at a Sox infielder, but to throw at the ball at him -- which Shields did, not in the head or anywhere dangerous, and not very hard. I've always hated Crisp, actually, which kind of balances my secret man-crush on Ellsbury.

He is my 3rd least favorite Sox player the past 10 years. (behind Lugo and Drew) This stems from Wednesday nights game when Iwamura freaked out when Crisp slid hard into 3rd taking him out. Not a bad play, just overshot his base. This retaliation was unnecessary, but Coco did overreact. Gomes was a cheap shot artist though. Looked like a 5th grade fight or something. I am dying to see the Manny.Youk stuff. Even though Francona said its settled and the two players were seen hugging it out after the game.

I wish the catcher would have stayed out of it because Shields was about to get fucked up. You could just tell. He swung wildly.. and being the brawling technician that Crisp is, weaved out of the way, and was ready to strike.. I don't like Crisp though as many have stated. He's a bit of a crybaby. Any news on Manny/Youk?
