Re: Legalization of marijuana

I'm kind of on both sides part of me says no part of me says yes. On the yes side i have to say that almost everything is bad for you in one way or another not just drugs. On the no side I agree with what most doctors say because I'm pretty sure that they have more experience in the field of health then most people do so i'm pretty sure if they say marijuana's bad then it is. Yes they have legalized cigarettes and beer which i thought was a huge mistake IMO they can impair your judgement and what not as ive heard from some doctors and i don't have any evidence to back this up but it's the most common thing you'll hear from drugs like that, is that they mess up your judgement etc. We see a lot of bad things on commercials about tobacco like that commercial that says half a million people die a day from smoking cigarettes you know.. "It must have been a type o" does that ring a bell on the commercial? Anyways my point is is that alcohol and cigarettes shouldn't have been legalized it was a huge mistake. I don't think they should legalize marijuana either. I'd like to see some evidence too, that weed improves your vision because i'm pretty sure that's a load of crap.

Which makes me wonder; how safe is that for the general public?

Re: Legalization of marijuana

Well, physically, I guess I'm a lot bigger than the general public, but I got to feel almost perfectly safe after a while. Like I said, not one of them ever once acknowledged I was even on the same sidewalk. A couple times, I walked past a little nook in the wall where someone was actually shooting up (which is definitely not allowed), and that did make me feel less safe.

The Exchange is actually a pretty huge issue in our city (half of whose citizens are either senile, retired or otherwise quite conservative), and the street on which it's located, Cormorant, is not somewhere you want to be at night. There's a few businesses on the same block as it -- a bakery and a Chinese place, I think -- and both are suing the city or something, probably for good reason.

A lot of more progressive people think that if you're going to have a Needle Exchange, you might as well go the extra step and have a full-on Safe Injection Site -- which I think is what Vancouver's got.

Also, I don't know what this adds to the conversation, but Victoria has one of the largest (if not THE largest) homeless populations per capita in North America.

There are MANY Doctors and research that finds no evidence to prove Marijuana is bad for you.

In fact there have been several studies that says it doesn't even cause cancer like cigarettes do.

A lot of information put out about marijuana in the past was propaganda.

If you notice now, the government has quit doing that and is going more with a strategy of marijuana makes you less motivated and if you smoke marijuana you will turn into a pot head that does nothing with your life.....which is a big load of shit as well.

Fact is, there is no proof marijuana is bad for you. Just a load of propaganda.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

Yeah but if marijuana weren't that bad people wouldn't be making a big deal out of it like they are now wouldn't you say so? So apparently there is something bad about marijuana. Saying that marijuana is bad for you when it isn't is like calling it candy.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

When propaganda is put out to the public for over 100 years the facts tend to get distorted.

The people of North Korea think Kim Jong Il is a God as well. Does that mean he is just because that is what they have been taught?

If you are taught something from the time you are born you are going to believe it. That doesn't mean it is true.

It should also be said plainly that there ARE good reasons NOT to smoke marijuana. In certain ways, it is bad for you.

But so are cigarettes and alcohol, and probably worse so. That's the point.

Yeah, that is the point.

Cigarettes are much worse for you than marijuana.
