Re: Legalization of marijuana

I suggest you guys read a couple books on this topic.

They Are:
Hemp - American History Revisited
by Robert Deitch
The Emperor Wears No Clothes
by Jack Herer

Both very interesting books. Personally I think that it should be legalized because to be honest. It's really only illegal because if hemp and marijuana (there's a difference) legal, alot of things would be different that corporations and whatnot wouldn't like. The U.S. doesn't care about you people, it doesn't care about it's people's health, so it has nothing to do with it supposedly being bad for you is the reason it's illegal. Marijuana has proven to help alot of things in health conditions. Also no one has ever died from marijuana (overdose), it's impossible to overdose on it. Sure, people have died while it's in their system but that's not the reason of their death. I even smoke weed for heaven's sake, my brother smokes weed and alot of my friend's do and look, we all have a family and have successful lives. Nothing wrong with marijuana at all.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

I have a much more radical view on this subject. I believe all drugs should be legal, produced by taxable companies, and sold under the same laws as alcohol. Right now it is easier for an underage person to get their hands on drugs than alcohol. My drug dealer has never checked my ID. Take all of the tax money made on these drugs and use it for education against drugs and rehab centers. People who disagree with me often say that the legalization of hard drugs would lead to the degradation of society. My reply is, I would not smoke crack if it were legal. I buy weed now, so I am not afraid of the legal aspect of attaining drugs, yet I still don't do heroin, coke, or any other hard drugs, I only smoke pot. This would not change if all drugs were made legal. This would take away a huge black market, regulate drugs so you actually know exactly what you are taking, and provide tax dollars to open free rehab clinics for addicts. In a free society the only laws would be to protect people and their assets, drug laws exceed those criteria.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

Iran actually has a really cool program regarding the drugs. Apparently they have a TON of heroin addicts, or I think it is heroin, and rather then have them pass around hepatitis or aids, or some other disease that is done through dirty needles they have programs that let drug addicts exchange their old crappy needles for new ones. While they're doing this, they're able to signup for medical care to help stop the addiction.

Canada has the same thing I believe, they do in Vancouver at least, if you go to a center, they will give you a room and clean needles to do your stuff.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

I plead the 5th on this subject as god knows who reads this site that could get me fired, shot or maimed, but old school WC'ers and my friends like Chops know where I stand on this subject. Shit, its freaking tattooed on my body. (hey its hidden and not obnoixous ok? gimme a break I was 22) haha.

But I loved reading the viewpoints and its funny to see people who dont smoke ever or infrequently on the same side of the fence as me.

And to answer someone question "Well, how good could Government weed be?" My guess is ALOT better than the garbage most people get these days. People fail to consider that the bud they are smoking 90% of the time was picked some 6 months ago, packeged (why cant I spell that word?) some 5.5 months ago and has been getting moldy, stale, dried out and sprayed with god knows what pesticides while its being massed harvested.

I also know for a fact that at least around here there are a couple dudes that get the vast majority of it and then the trickle down effect goes into play.

Think about how many times your buddy is all "My shit is much better than that shit you have" Chances are its the same shit. haha

I finally played live and it was fantastic.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

They should just de-criminalize it. Make people pay fines instead of locking them up for possesion

Re: Legalization of marijuana

^^Not no more we had it for a couple of years as decriminalized. But the law went back to normal after a year. That was a few years back.

Re: Legalization of marijuana

We've got a Needle Exchange here in Victoria as well -- I worked across the street from it last summer. It's incredible how de-tuned people on heroin are; I could walk through a block full of totally smacked-out men and women, and none of them would even acknowledge I existed.
