Considering I can speak 3 languages and read 2 more. I'm fine with it. Oddly enough we've had spanish speaking people here since god knows when. And yet people still don't bother to try and welcome them. Instead all we ever do is bitch. We don't try to adapt to them. They have to adapt to us. Considering we have no official language I don't think I have a right to tell someone they have to speak a language.

And no of course I wouldn't like it. But you know what. The only thing I would hope for is I was given the opportunity to learn the language.

Also you know what's really insane? By far this is the bitchiest country I know of. Anytime anything goes wrong we bitch. Boo hoo a cop pulled me over. Boo hoo I'm too hard headed to learn a language. Boo hoo this. Boo hoo that. I'm not totally clean of this myself but seriously. Doesn't it ever get old?

If you want to get techincal we should all be speaking a Native American dialect as they were native to this country long before we were. >.>

The only thing this story illustrates is poor business practice.

to clarify something... whereas I think it's wrong that they've been removed from the position I think they should've been given the opportunity to learn the language. I also think that the Spanish speaking people should at least understand English and be able to speak it well enough to get by. To be fair since English isn't their first language they may do what I do sometimes. I was taught Danish before English. Sometimes in the heat of the moment I'll break into Danish. Considering Spanish is their native tongue what if they suddenly broke out into Spanish amidst a fire? What would happen then? Even though they know English they don't have the time to think about what they want to say.

I think the fact that everytime I call a toll free number, or go to the ATM, it asks if I want it in Spanish or English....signifies that we are indeed adapting to them. That is a luxury to spanish speaking people, not a right.
