Why English Should Be The Official Language

I am an American. I was born here and raised here and so were my forefathers going back as far as I can trace it. My ancestors fought and died to gain America's freedom and to protect that freedom once it was secured and you are telling me this is not my country?

For all theoretical purposes, from my understanding when immigrants moved into the USA, they normally did so in large movements. Not one family at a time. Because of this, several families would move into one area of the USA, like Minnesota where each family was given 60 acres of land in agreement to create a crop. Because they had these entire towns of people who immigrated to the USA together, they were never forced to learn English. Obviously this isn't the case now, but it's not like immigrants were so much more respectable in the 1800 and early 1900 hundreds. Immigrants are just much more prevalent now.

Secondly, I don't think we're accommodating to their culture when we write in their native language on our advertising, we're accommodating to their dollar.

You could simply do what Canada did...Make both spanish and english the official language (we did french and english) and make it so that you can speak both in government offices. It really wouldn't harm that many people just make people have to learn who wish to have high ranking government jobs learn spanish.

What we do is for shit like banks and cops is that they don't have to speak both but there has to be people on the force or at the bank that can speak either both or the less common one (in the area). So if you get pulled over by a cop and dick it up by speaking spanish they can radio another cop to translate. It's really not that hard and makes almost everyone happy.

But 100 years ago, it would have been very difficult for an immigrant to learn English because of the lack of resources.

That is not the case today. There are plenty of resources and methods of learning English.

Just because you were born in a country does not make it your. It owns you.

So in that case, no one in the world can call the country they live in their own. Hmm...

The U.S. all ready offers the option of English or Spanish in most vital areas such as government offices etc...

But when people who have been employed at their jobs for 30 years get the ultimatum of learning Spanish or losing their job...it is getting a bit ridiculous, don't you think?

i wonder if they knew quite a few, that they wanted to put a law to learn three languages would this be a batter place.

Or. did they have disscussion for the freedom of learning it ourselves. having a choice to learn it. If our forefathers can see how far we have come to diversity now. I mean. after all they did just bull doze the former inhabitants. Brute force disscussions with a light saber. <.<

They do get a mention though. Thanksgiving. All i tcan think of though. There was also God(Almighty. not the TNA local Headquaters guru) in the Constitution. Which he is inch by inch getting rid of in America. God is being taken out of our schools. Public places. Also in the bible, in revelations. It won't matter what language you have to speak to live on a piece of land(or something of that nature) that God created but it's owned by Someone who bought Gods land and do as he pleases and doesn't even get a mention when a gust of wind passes by or when some grass grows. Not even when some rain falls. But money gets all the attention.

just one more question. Why is Egypt's Pyramid on the back of a US dollar? We don't speak Egyption. Also, our forefathers did take slaves, our forefathers wanted freedom but did have slaves(or so i've read/heard somewhere, possibly gossip. but i'm not sure)

How United is the United States? How much freedom do we really have? Does the United states Stand for freedom? Do we really take care of our sick? Do we really have open arms for outsiders?

Don't take my word for it...I was born from an eskimo family but i don't speak or understand anyone who speaks it. Trust me, i honestly don't. I can say some words but i'm clueless on the language. I don't really care about the past significance of eskimos. if the eskimo's really have any significance on anything except being placed on land with oil in it....not sure if that means anything though. It probably means more to people who have a need of oil to run their cars in the lower 48 Because....lets be honest. Eskimos don't mean nothing tot he united states except giving the Untied states more land and oil. Other then that....we're useless.

This isn't thought out for a debate....i started....wasn't going to stop.

Its irrelevant that YOU can speak 3 languages, the majority speak english. This is the richest most powerful country ever, (hopefully no Romans read this) it doesn't alter to accomadate the people here to exploit it, keep your culture, but adapt to ours while you live here.

Because your ancestors came from Europe unless you are native american and even then it can be argued that they came from either Africa or Russia (I think I can't remember my history on where people came from too well)
