For a serious response to this thread, I do not support same sex marriage.

I would support some time of civil union but it would have to be clearly defined as not marriage.

Agreed with Civil Unions instead of marriage.

As an aside, nearly everyone I know that is gay (I work in London...there are lots!) also only wants civil unions and rights/benefits and NOT marriage itself.

Simply put, most of them see marriage and the institution it represents (an institution that has been, in their eyes, holding them down for years) as something that appals them.
