Wall bash Voting Online.

Why hasn't this happened yet? Is the government afraid of hackers and such? Data getting corrupted?

I just imagine that if you could go to USA.gov: The U.S. Government's Official Web Portal and fill out some secure information that verifies your identification why shouldnt we be able to go a government secured site to vote?

I know alot of people that dont vote because they say its a hassle or too confusing to get registered. Just a lack of information on where and when.

The government could install this website and simply run 1000 ads a week on every station known to man. You could even have Puff Daddy be the spokesman. >.>

Think about it.

Re: Voting Online.

Would it be easy? Most definitely.

The lack of the paper trail certainly opens it up towards abuse. Along with that, the court really fails to understand the 'internet.' Since many proceedings, such as the 2000 election are left up to the supreme court, I don't think the United States is prepared to become a nation where the citizens can vote for their president online.

Re: Voting Online.

I would like to see a piece of data that lists how many homes in the States own a computer with an internet connection.

And yes, I understand there are public places such as libraries that people could go to...but still. How much of America is really "plugged into" the internet? It's probably not the majority. A big percentage of voters seem to be people 50 and over, as the younger generation isn't as likely to get involved. I'm willing to bet a high percentage of those over 50 don't have the internet.

Further, they probably wouldn't want to even learn it. Many people in that generation are shy to learn new things, and technology such as the internet is something they don't even want to try. I'm serious - come to Detroit and with me on the assembly line. Most of them don't even know what the "escape" key is.

Re: Voting Online.

If people are too lazy or not smart enough to figure out how to vote, they don't deserve to vote.

Precisely why I think it should be considered. To GET the young people more involved. This isnt for the 50 year old zoo keeper, this is about some 20 something sitting home watching the Nightly News, but is buried up to his eyesballs in schoolwork and has no car.

Ya know? Is the overall goal to get as many of the eligible knowledgable voters out there to.....vote?

If they care enough about politics and the direction of this country, they will find a way to vote.

Making it too easy to vote opens it up for a lot of corruption IMO. Like "vote for this guy and I will give you $10, it will only take 5 minutes."
