I just read this in my newspaper and thought it would be a interesting topic of discussion.

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, in a CNN interview on Sunday. ''America has allowed itself to become enslaved to Saudi oil. It's absurd. It's embarassing,'' Huckabee said. ''I would make the United States energy Independent within 10 years and tell the Saudis they can keep their oil just like they can keep their sand, that we won't need either one of them.

I can't stand Mike Huckabee. His promises are ridiculous, thank God nobody gives a damn about him.. I'd hate to see a large population waste their vote on a unrealistic candidate like him.

idk why people dislike huckabee so much, his views seem dead on to me. But I wouldnt count on him winning so no worries. I say the top 3 republicans with the best chance are Giuliani, F.Thompson, and McCain.

His views are dead on because he says what everyone wants to hear. I don't want a candidate to do that. I want a candidate to come at me with realistic solutions to this country's issues. Huckabee isn't genuine in his approach and if you take a step back and listen to what he's saying you can smell the stench from a mile away.

I don't like politicians who generalize about people and/or issues to serve their own purposes in getting into office. His words sound like generalized statements he knows will get over with some people and not his own honest views.

For instance he made a sweeping statement quoted in this thread about people in Saudi funding terrorists.

There are hard working people there who have nothing to do with Osama or anyone else.

To infer that everyone in that country is funding terrorism is a stretch and obvious in trying to appeal to people who arent educated on the issue and think everyone who wears a turban is going to blow us up.

I know several people from the Philippines who went there because there is severe age discrimination in Asia and the only way they can make money is seeking work abroad.

Politicians need to be specific and honest with their views and what they plan to do.

They are quite a few that are but people like Huckabee piss me off in this way.
