So I click on the AOL Homepage this evening and they have a story on the Democratic debate. I read the story and next to it on the right are two polls. The questions were simple... Which candidate did the best and which candidate did the worst.. the leader in both polls? You guessed it, Hillary Clinton.. and it wasn't even close.

It's stories like these that are indicative of just how much people care about Hillary whether it's in a negative or positive light and how little they care about the other candidates.

Here's the problem I see for the other candidates. Hillary.. she has a following. She's also hated by many, but at least she has that following to fall back on.. the other candidates for one, don't have a percentage of gimme votes like she has and two, can't buy half the publicity she receives. Voters who are undecided are more likely to vote for what they know than what they've never heard of.

She has one very big disadvantage.

There are some Democrats that will not vote for her simply because she is a woman.

Even if that's the case, lets play the percentage game.. Nobody else is standing out. Obama's been up and down, John Edwards has his supporters but nothing to write home about, and the others are virtually invisible except for Dennis' awful haircut lol.

I would imagine that these voters you claim to be against Hillary based on her gender are going to split between Obama and edwards thus canceling eachother out and leaving Hillary left standing.

Edit: somebody needs to start thinking outside the box and throwing some shit at the board to see if it'll stick because they're all going nowhere and fast.

She will most likely get the Democratic Nomination.

I was talking about if she does get the nomination, that is when some of the Dem's will vote against her because she is a woman. I seriously don't think that Obama or Hillary can carry the Southern vote. Historically that is what wins an election.

IMO, the Dems only chance at the White House in 2008 is John Edwards and he doesn't really have a chance at winning the primary.

The other possibility is that Ron Paul doesn't win the Republican nomination and runs as a third party candidate and gets enough Republican votes to lose the Presidency for the Republicans.

On a related note (don't feel like starting a thread)
I was able to watch Bill Clinton speak at the opening of the Ontario Economic Summit on Tuesday (Opening was here at the Shaw Festival). I was working and managed to slip in and watch, and the cat had some great ideas. It was a cool speech which basically said we need to fix the environment and society but we can do it while making money and providing an example for up and coming powers to show that they don't need to burn through resources to be successful like North America.

I can't really do it justice, but it was great. He took a couple pretty great shots at Bush as well.
