The common man campaign

I'm not sure if you have noticed this before. But it seems like every president has tried to make themselves out to be your everyday common man. George Bush played that car that he was from Texas. He even worked his poor speaking abilities into it as part of a joke. John Edwards, in his quest to become vice-president, seems to be playing the similar card. He was just good 'ole Southern boy, fighting for our civil rights. Does this campaign really make you feel any more confident in the person as possibly the next President of the United States? Does being an every-day guy prepare you to be the most powerful man on the planet? Or would you be more likely to go with someone like Mitt Romney or Ross Perot who have years of business experience in their hands?

I like someone who has the experience necessary and is for the fair treatment of all.

The "common man" or "experience businessman" acts doesn't work with me.

I'm a good old rebel, now that's just what I am.
I won't be reconstructed and I do not give a damn.

Re: The common man campaign

Not matter what the presidential hopefuls portray themselves as they're all a bunch of lying mofos. :-P Just them having to put on an act as a "common man" tells you they feel they cannot win as themselves.

Once the get into office the power goes to their head and the forget about the little guys.. All they worry about is what lobby is going to give the most to their reelection fund and change laws and regulations to suit those lobbies.

Re: The common man campaign

Generally I prefer politicians to have not been born with the silver spoon in their mouth, but instead to have worked their way to the top showing guile, intelligence and ambition (but not naked ruthless ambition).

This would probably explain why I have yet to find a decent one.

Re: The common man campaign

This approach may not appeal to intelligent people such as us, but there are plenty of idiots out there that actually buy into this bullshit
