However, I do not go to church every week. I'm of the belief that you don't need to attend all the time to show your love for the Lord. Every so often when I'm alone somewhere, I'll pray. I won't always pray to ask God for things, but usually more to thank him for all he's given me. I feel so lucky to have a healthy family, friends, a loving wife, and a great home and job. I feel that without the Lord watching over me, none of it would have been possible. There are those times when you have these near-hit types of scenarios that you barely escape, and the first thought that comes to me is "God was watching over me." To summarize, I am definitely a believer in God, and love him for everything he has done.

But I think there was a force, beyond the scope of scientific explanation, that created the universe. I believe that the Bible is not meant to be a literal account of the early times of man, but rather a book of metaphors and stories, whose real importance is the lessons that the stories teach, not the details of what exactly happened in early times. I believe that the Bible has been edited greatly as it was passed down generation-to-generation. I believe today's Bible is considerably different than the Bible of 1000 years ago. I believe that Jesus was not the son of God in a literal sense, but rather a son of God in the metaphorical sense. I believe he was a man who understood, more than anybody else did, the morality that people should live their life by. By "getting it" more than anybody else, that was what made him the son of God. This does not lessen the importance of his teachings, in my opinion. I believe that religion and science are NOT mutually exclusive. I believe they go hand in hand. I beleive that the "seven days" that God created the world in actually span million and millions (if not billions) of years. And I think this may also be a religious explanation for evolution. I believe "Let there be light" is a metaphor for the Big Bang I don't believe I have to go to church every week to express my beliefs. I believe that church is a good way to promote togetherness, however, so I see nothing wrong with people who choose to attend church.

The Roman Catholic Church was very corrupt. That is one of the reasons that the Pilgrims eventually fled from England so they could have religous freedom.

It took a long time to understand that and still people are trying to find that now. There has been bloodshed over that because of radicals such as the Knights of the Templar, Christian Kings who used religion as a tool to conquer, etc. But you have to remember that this bloodshed is people, and that since the time of Jesus I don't remember God asking anyone to bare arms in his name... as love had taken its place. It's people who use religion as a crutch for personal gain to blame, but not God.

Thet Roman Catholic Church was even more corrupt at the time of the Council of Nicea when the Bible was put together and what are you talking about pilgrims leaving England for? I have no idea what you're talking about on that. |

The Catholic Church during the time of monarchies in England were pretty well controlled by the king. They were very corrupt. That is what I was getting at.
