KICKOFF: Sunday, 8:15 ET
SURFACE: Sportexe Momentum
TV: NBC (Al Michaels, John Madden, Andrea Kremer)
SERIES: 4th meeting. The Ravens lead 2-1. The most memorable matchup came in 2000 when the Redskins played yeoman defense in beating the eventual champion Ravens 10-3. Late middle linebacker Kevin Mitchell sealed the victory with an end zone interception.
PREDICTION: Ravens 19-16
KEYS TO THE GAME: Searching for offensive answers against Baltimore's stingy defense is a dicey proposition. But coach Jim Zorn is looking for a spark with Washington scoring just 43 points in four November games. Opponents are beating up RB Clinton Portis with little fear of the passing game because the Redskins join Detroit and Cincinnati as the only teams yet to score 30 points in a game. Zorn admits the passing game needs to step up, but doesn't want to overload players in their first year in the offense.
Power trio: The Redskins don't know how the Ravens will divvy the carries, but Washington knows it will see plenty of RBs Willis McGahee, Le'Ron McClain and Ray Rice. McClain started last week and has a powerful running style that could wear down the Redskins' beat-up front line. And with Flacco continuing to make good decisions, Baltimore won't hesitate to let him test the secondary if Washington puts eight defenders in the box.
Key Injuries: Redskins: Portis (neck, ribs, knee), DE Andre Carter (foot), LB London Fletcher (foot) and CB Shawn Springs (calf) look like game-time decisions; LB Marcus Washington (ankle) is out. Baltimore: LT Jared Gaither (shoulder) and CB Samari Rolle (thigh) are expected to start.
Need to know: The Ravens have won nine of their past 12 games against the NFC while the Redskins are 5-15 in their past 20 interconference games. ... Washington's FedExField is only 32 miles from Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium.
