KICKOFF: Sunday, 4:15 ET
SURFACE: Grass
TV: CBS (Bill Macatee, Steve Beuerlein)
SERIES: 97th regular-season meeting. The Chiefs lead the series 50-44-2, with a 2-1 edge in postseason action. Kansas City has won its last five games played in Oakland, including a 12-10 decision last year when S Jarrad Page sealed the deal with a game-saving interception with less than a minute remaining.
PREDICTION: Raiders 23-20
KEYS TO THE GAME: QB Tyler Thigpen has been running a lot of spread-type looks, but this is a week for the Chiefs to get RB Larry Johnson the ball early and often. Kansas City's defense will be attacked on the ground all day, so the offense has to sustain a few drives to prevent wearing down on the other side of the ball. Plus, the Raiders are far more vulnerable in run defense, ranking 29th in the NFL allowing 160.0 yards per game. ... Kansas City gives up 165.9 rushing yards per game - a figure that was bolstered by Oakland's 300-yard output in the first meeting - while Oakland is working rookie RB Darren McFadden back into the mix now that he's healthy. QB JaMarcus Russell is far more effective when he has a strong run game leading the way, and that should set up shots against the Chiefs' young secondary. Still, Kansas City will load the box with eight defenders and take its chances against Russell.
KEY INJURIES: Chiefs: DL Alfonso Boone (back) should play; LB Donnie Edwards (hamstring, knee) is not expected to play; MLB Pat Thomas (hamstring) should return after missing two games. Raiders: C Jake Grove (calf) will be replaced by John Wade for the third consecutive game.
FAST FACTS: The Chiefs have just six sacks. The NFL record low for a 16-game season was 13 by the Baltimore Colts in 1981. ... McFadden, who rushed for 164 yards in the first meeting, is averaging 4.9 yards per carry.
