KICKOFF: Sunday, 1:00 ET
SURFACE: Grass
TV: FOX (Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa)
SERIES: 152nd regular-season meeting. Giants lead, 86-61-4. The Redskins are the Giants longest-running rival, dating to 1932. The teams met in the season-opener on Sept. 4, with the Giants taking a 16-7 victory. Perhaps most memorable matchup in the minds of Giant fans was the NFC Championship game on Jan. 11, 1987, when a 17-0 victory took New York to its first-ever Super Bowl.
PREDICTION: Giants 24-16
KEYS TO THE GAME: The Redskins face a dilemma defensively. Washington has just 17 sacks on the season and will have a tough time getting to QB Eli Manning even on blitz packages because of the strength of the Giants' offensive line and the rash of injuries the Redskins have along their front seven. But if the Redskins sit back in coverage, Manning is playing with a lot of confidence and the Giants have a deep group of weapons. However, Washington does disguise its coverages well and ranks fourth in the league allowing just 182.7 passing yards per game. ... The Redskins can't get caught up in a shootout with the Giants. Washington will give the ball to RB Clinton Portis around 25 times and hope he and backup Ladell Betts can control the clock and move the chains. The Redskins ran 41 times last Sunday and must win time of possession to help protect their beat up defense. But that plan will only work if they avoid falling into a huge deficit like the 16-0 hole they fell into in the first meeting. QB Jason Campbell can be effective against the Giants, but only if he's not asked to face the teeth of the Giants' defense in long passing situations.
KEY INJURIES: Giants: WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring) and RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) are uncertain; DE Fred Robbins (shoulder) should start. Redskins: DE Andre Carter (foot), LB London Fletcher (foot) and DTs Kedric Golston (ankle) and Cornelius Griffin (shoulder) are questionable; LB Marcus Washington (ankle) is out.
FAST FACTS: The Giants have won 14 of their past 15 road games including the playoffs. ... Redskins WR Santana Moss has eight touchdowns in eight meetings.
