SERIES: 21st regular-season meeting. Packers lead series, 14-6. Although Green Bay has the upper hand in the all-time record, the Saints have won two of the past three meetings. The Packers' most recent visit to New Orleans resulted in a 35-20 loss in 2002. The Saints also won the teams' last matchup, 34-27 at Green Bay in 2006. The teams are meeting in prime time for the first time. The intra-conference foes have never met in the postseason.
PREDICTION: Packers 30-28
KEYS TO THE GAME: The Packers have to like the matchup of their deep receiving corps against the Saints' shaky secondary. The Saints don't have the cover men to match up with Greg Jennings, Donald Driver & Co., and they won't get much help from the pass rush. New Orleans has just 18 sacks and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers moves well. Still, Green Bay is getting improved production from RB Ryan Grant and will get him 25-plus carries to help rest the defense. ... The matchup of the week could be Saints QB Drew Brees facing the Packers' turnover-happy defense. Brees leads the league with 3,251 passing yards, but he has also thrown 11 interceptions. A key factor will be how well his receivers deal with the bump-and-run style of the Packers secondary, which leads the league with 16 picks and a league-best 51.5 completion percentage against. Green Bay is far more vulnerable on the ground, but the Saints have yet to mount a consistent ground game.
Key Injuries: Packers: Driver (family matter) is expected to return in time for the game; DE Jeremy Thompson (groin) should play. Saints: RB Reggie Bush (knee) has a chance to return this week if his knee responds well following practice; C Jonathan Goodwin (knee) is uncertain.
Need to know: Of Jennings' 20 career touchdowns, 10 have been for 40-plus yards. ... Brees is on pace to throw for 5,202 yards this season, which would break Dan Marino's single-season record for 5,084 in 1984.
