On the Sept. 15 edition of SmackDown, Lashley defeated intense rival Finlay to become the No. 1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Championship at No Mercy. On Oct. 8, he will enter King Booker’s kingdom and challenge him for gold, but he won’t be alone. For the first time in SmackDown history, a pay-per-view main event was changed with less than a week to go until the event. As announced Tuesday night on WWE.com, General Manager Theodore Long declared the match be changed to a Fatal Four-Way.
Per Long’s orders, King Booker will now be forced to defend his gold against not only No. 1 Contender Bobby Lashley, buy also former World Heavyweight Champion Batista and Finlay.
As always, the rules of a Fatal Four-Way are simple: the first Superstar to record a pinfall or submission will take home the gold.
All four of these men have clashed before, but never with so much on the line. What will happen with the World Heavyweight Championship is at stake? Will King Booker maintain leadership of his kingdom? Can we see an overthrow of the Royal Court? Find out at No Mercy on Oct. 8, live on pay-per-view.
