Streaks:
The above meeting was the only one between these teams.
Last week:
Houston dominated Oakland in every phase and leveled the Raiders, 29-6. ... The Cardinals were on a bye.
Keep your eye on ...
Steve Slaton's emergence: Slowly, but surely, Houston's second-year rusher has started to play better this season. After rushing for only 51 yards on 26 carries in the first two weeks, Slaton has compiled 141 yards on 33 carries in his past two games. He won't have an easy time against the Cardinals, however, who rank sixth in rush defense.
Houston's consistency: The Texans have not sustained any consistent level of performance over the past few seasons. They have already shown their schizophrenic ways once this season, getting soundly beaten by Jacksonville following a rousing Week 2 win at Tennessee. Houston must stay focused against a 1-2 Cardinals team that will be rested after a bye.
Beanie Wells' impact: The Cardinals took Wells with their first-round pick this year hoping he would be able to complement Tim Hightower and give the team a powerful running game to go with its explosive aerial attack. So far those plans have been dashed, with Wells missing most of training camp due to an ankle injury and rushing only 16 times through three games. Look for Wells to get some more action against the Texans' 29th-ranked rushing defense.
Did you know?
The Texans are 8-3 when QB Matt Schaub has a 100-plus passer rating. ... Since 2008, Houston WR Andre Johnson leads the NFL in receiving yards (1,911) and catches (135). ... Cardinals QB Kurt Warner needs one 300-yard passing game to become the fifth player with 50 in a career. ... Hightower is one of three running backs to be leading his team in both rushing (109 yards) and receptions (20).
