Streaks:
The Giants have won six of the past seven meetings and have a dominant 9-2 overall series edge.
Last week:
New York held Tampa Bay without a first down for 40 minutes in a 24-0 shutout win over the Bucs. ... The Chiefs went into Philadelphia and got rocked in a 34-14 loss.
Keep your eye on ...
Kansas City's defensive line woes: Last season, the Chiefs set a franchise record with only 10 sacks and they were equally porous against the run, giving up 158.9 yards per game on the ground. They have not improved much this year, ranking 25th with three sacks and 19th with 119.3 rushing yards allowed per game. Since 2001, Kansas City has drafted 10 defensive linemen in the first three rounds. At some point, those picks have to pan out.
Jamaal Charles taking on a bigger role: So far, Larry Johnson has retained his position as the Chiefs' featured back. He has 54 carries in three games and Charles only has 10. Johnson is averaging a career-low 2.5 yards per carry, however, and if he does not pick up his game soon, Charles may get some more touches.
New York's capitalistic secondary: The Giants rank fifth in the league with five interceptions and rank first in passing defense. With Matt Cassel already having thrown two interceptions in just two games, the Giants will be looking to force him into some more turnovers.
Did you know?
The Giants are 3-0 for the second consecutive season. The last time they had back-to-back 3-0 starts was 1993-94. ... New York has won nine in a row when Justin Tuck has at least one sack. ... Chiefs WR Bobby Wade averages 17.5 yards per catch against the Giants. ... Since 2000, Kansas City has an 11-7 (.611) record against the NFC at home.
