Last meeting
Oakland QB JaMarcus Russell completed 10 of 11 passes for 152 yards and a touchdown as the Raiders routed the Broncos, 31-10, in Week 12 last season.
Streaks
The Broncos have won six of the past eight meetings, but are still behind, 55-40-2, in the overall series.
Last week
Denver dominated in the second half and improved to 2-0 with a 27-6 victory against the Browns. ... After failing to score a touchdown for the first 58 minutes, the Raiders orchestrated a beautiful 2-minute drive to beat the Chiefs, 13-10.
Keep your eye on ...
Elvis Dumervil's emergence: Matched up against Browns Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas last week, Dumervil was outstanding, finishing with four sacks. He has been the Broncos' best pass rusher since he joined the team in 2006 and will look to build on his success from Week 2 this Sunday against Russell and the Raiders.
Russell's confidence: Through two games, the Raiders' starting quarterback has completed only 35 percent of his passes. While Russell has not expressed too much concern over his early-season inaccuracy, if he keeps missing open receivers it might start to creep into his head.
The push by the Raiders' offensive line: Oakland wants to run the ball early and often to establish a dominance on the line of scrimmage. The Raiders will be without starting guard Robert Gallery, who is out with a broken leg, but do not expect that to keep them from trying to pound the ball. Denver's defensive line has played well so far, but it will be tested against the Raiders.
Did you know?
Broncos QB Kyle Orton ranks first in the NFL with a 152.1 fourth-quarter passer rating. ... Denver WR Brandon Marshall is 40 yards away from having 3,000 receiving yards in his career. ... Oakland hasn't beaten Denver twice in a row since 2002. ... Raiders safety Michael Huff leads the NFL with three interceptions.
