After capturing the prestigious Intercontinental Championship from Rey Mysterio on SmackDown in dramatic fashion, John Morrison will put his new title on the line against the ever-rising Dolph Ziggler at WWE Breaking Point.
Since coming to SmackDown via the 2009 WWE Draft, The Shaman of Sexy has quickly catapulted himself into one of the Friday night elite, forging his A-list greatness with impressive outings against the likes of Edge, Jeff Hardy and CM Punk. Although it seemed obvious to all that championship gold was destined to be around his waist, Morrison nonetheless stunned the WWE Universe when he overcame The Master of the 619 in a hard-fought match to win ultimate glory. And now that he has grabbed the gold, there is no telling what heights The Friday Night Delight will reach to prove that he is one of the greatest of all time.
Dolph Ziggler is quite simply the Superstar that refused to be denied. After nearly taking the Intercontinental Title from Mysterio on two separate pay-per-view bouts of intense proportions, Ziggler overcame incredible odds to win his third opportunity at WWE Breaking Point. The aggressive ring warrior reigned supreme in a brutal Triple Threat Match, besting both the experienced Finlay and the monstrous Mike Knox for the right to face the Intercontinental Champion at the exciting, new pay-per-view. Also a 2009 WWE draftee to SmackDown, Ziggler has consistently demonstrated the unquenchable drive, malicious tendencies, and unaltered willingness to do anything to get his opponent’s shoulders down for the pin. And though the champion has changed right before his eyes, Ziggler’s resolve will surely be unwavering.
Can the ambitious Ziggler end the reign of “The Guru of Greatness” before it gets started? Find out who will walk away as Intercontinental Champion at WWE Breaking Point, live on pay-per-view on Sunday, September 13, at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT.
