Tom you are as well aware as i am that not even playing a backline of Gary Neville clones will see you concede 4 goals within 90 minutes.. if you do well.. i'll be shocked.
Yeah but have you watched our games this season? Sometimes in certain games Rio and Vidic are both bad. We are still solid defensively most of the time, but I think we are exposed sometimes, and we are not the defensive force we were last season. I don't know what has changed, and I guess we still haven't conceded many goals, but I think this could be one of those crazy days when everything goes wrong.

I've watched enough imo. Your main problem is the lack of scholes or any other defensive midfielder, which is allowing a lot of sides to create more spaces and opportunities; hence rio and vidic are getting caught out.

Anderson does a good job defensively, but yeah I take your point. Scholes isn't really defensive. Defensive midfielders need to be able to tackle. Anderson and Carrick are both better than Scholes defensively, we just miss scholes for his passing. Obviously Hargreaves is the big loss here and I think we should invest in somebody like Diarra in Jan.
But that isn't the only reason. I have seen a few lapses in concentration from Rio and Vidic, and obviously Van Der Sar is pretty dodgy this year too.

In saying that you need to realise that Anderson barely starts for one, and from what i've seen of your games Carrick i don't see much of. Scholes and Hargreaves you're missing yeh but I don't think you need to go and spend money getting a player though diarra would be a good option.
BASED ON WHAT I'VE NOTICED..
VDS is getting older and hes reflexes arent quite as sharp
Rio's had one REALLY BAD game but hes still good
Vidic isnt as strong as he was duno why
Evra is your best defender imo

Pretty much agree with the player descriptions, but hopefully Rio and Vidic become the strong partnership they were last season. On the plus side Evans looks good. Rafael should play most games imo, but there are games of course when his inexperience could cost us so Brown is important. Evra is indeed ftw.
I think with Scholes retiring soon and Hargo's long term future in doubt due to injury (and non existant in short term) Diarra would be a good signing. Just a question of the price and whether its worth it.
Chelsea have looked good but have played easy games and have dropped 5 points against us and Pool. Pool could easily win it tbh.
