KEANE READY TO SHOW HIS REDS CLASS

Liverpool are about to see the real Robbie Keane now the £20million striker has broken his Reds duck in the Barclays Premier League.

The belief comes from the man himself, after he scored the first two goals in Liverpool's 3-0 Anfield victory over West Brom on Saturday.

The Irishman was denied an extended shot at a hat-trick when Rafael Benitez substituted him with 20 minutes to go to make way for the fit-again Fernando Torres - but Keane has no argument over that with the Liverpool boss.

Keane had not scored in 11 previous league games this season, and the crowd's joy was unconfined when Alvaro Arbeloa hammered in the third goal in injury time as Liverpool re-established their title credentials.

Keane said: "I was looking for the hat-trick, but it is not about me. I'd got two goals and would always like more, but seeing the board go up with my number was not an issue for me.

"People are trying to make a big deal out of it, which is not the case. Things like that do not matter - because this is a team.

"The most important thing was that we keep winning, and that I am part of that winning side."

Keane certainly managed to silence the noisy Albion fans, who had been goading him over his previous links with Black Country neighbours Wolves.

He said: "I enjoy scoring against West Brom, because they always give me stick over my Wolves days. I think it's eight (goals) in six games now for me, so that is nice.

"They don't forget, even if it is a long time ago. Wolves and West Brom don't forget things like that."

Keane scored his first after a fine pass from Steven Gerrard and second following a high-speed break from defence and a Fabio Aurelio long ball.

He said: "The manager always had confidence in me, and I always knew the goals would come.

"Maybe it has taken me a while, and sometimes it takes a bit longer to get to know the play.

"It has taken me longer than I had hoped, but with every game I am getting more confident. The evidence was there for everyone to see."

But it was the team performance, not just his own display, which pleased Keane.

"I am getting great service. I have Stevie, Xabi (Alonso) and (Javier) Mascherano behind me - and they can all see a pass for me.," he said.

"Stevie's pass was excellent. But over the years he has been fantastic, and it is something I have seen over the years. Now I am on the end of those passes, which is fantastic for me.

"His passes to put people through are unbelievable - he is top class. My aim is to keep doing my job, and I know the goals will happen."

Benitez believes he had given Keane long enough to get his third when he finally put the team and his own plans first.

The Spaniard said: "I was waiting for him to score a hat-trick. But in the end I had to make changes to get Torres into the game.

"We wanted to give time on the pitch to Torres - so it was nearly perfect for Robbie, and perfect for the team.

"I decided to leave (Dirk) Kuyt on. He has such great energy and work-rate and can help out in midfield and defence, so I decided it would be Robbie who would make way for Torres.

"Now Keane will be happier, and everyone will start talking about how good he is. He will now score more goals, and the competition with Torres will be good for us."

Albion boss Tony Mowbray witnessed a brave display by his team, who were eventually outclassed.

He said: "I don't like talking about the money. But a £20million striker scored twice against us, and there is a big gulf in the quality of players we have to face.

"If you compare the knowledge and experience of Keane with young (Ishmael) Miller it does make a difference.

"When to stand still, when to run, when to get on to a defender's shoulders, when to come short and link the play - he has to learn it all. But in a few years' time, he will be a great player as well.

"We intended to attack, ask questions of Liverpool and see what happened. You can go to teams in the top four, set up defensively and never get out of your own half.

"With the players we have, the best thing to do is to have a go and play our own game rather than asking people to defend all game."

I expect Keane to start scoring regularly in the Premiership now. He undoubtedly has the quality to do so, he just needed his first goal in the league for Liverpool. We all saw what he did for Spurs. In 2007 he scored 30 league goals, which is ridiculous.

Liverpool have some of the best strikers in the world. Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel, Durk Kurt and Robie Keane.

It's the year of Liverpool! You'll never walk alone~!

Compared to Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov that isn't too impressive.

Wait, what's that? Liverpool > Man U? Well, this agrees:

Berbatov has fucked us up lol. We were better when we had Rooney and Tevez as first choice.

Tevez had a very good year last year. I doubt he'd be able to replicate it this year anyway though.

He was in my EPL fantasy team last year. >_>

With Ronaldo scoring so frequently as well, it'd make it hard for him to have the same impact.

Any excuse though from a Man U fan for being behind Liverpool.

How is it an excuse? It is a problem with our own team and the selection of it. If we were perfect we would be top...
