This is a discussion on NBA 08/09 Season Discussion Thread within the North American Sports forums, part of the Sports Forums category; So playing physical(LEGAL) defense, means you should retaliate by being a bitch? lmfao. Your logic is truly infallible....

Its not that its just that he was the one causing the shit. Walker caused it right back which is his fault to but Artest has a history of being ill tempered and rough
Alright, first of all, don't talk that way about Red, no need to bring a great into the discussion. It was Artest's fault that it all started. He started with the physical defense and all we did was retaliate. And I don't hate Artest, I think he is a great player, just still has a really bad temper and doesn't know how to control it.
Artest didn't do anything other then play good defense even for a preseason game he just played like he usually would.
Or did you miss him not being involved in the Walker/House/McGrady stuff and then breaking up the Yao/Walker scuffle? Lets not forget this is the same guy that pushed LeBron james while celebrating a dunk earlier in the week. The guy is just a hot head, all talent, no brains.

looks like the truth to me
Lets not over look the fact that Walker was the one crying after the game about being bullied even though he elbowed McGrady first.

Alright if you honestly think that all Artest was doing was playing good D, you are smoking something, something that really messes you up. If you were watching the games. 5 minutes into the game when it was 10-7 boston, Pierce drove to the lane and Artest completely just hammered him. Thus starting all the problems left in the game. Actually there was also no call when Artest clearly nailed him with an inappropriate block attempt. But yes what Walker did started the whole flaring between TMac and Walker and House. But Artest started most of it with all the fouling that he did. It got Walker and the entire Celtics team frustrated. Artest also clearly tackled Pierce in the 2nd quarter. Artest was to blame and so was Walker.
And like I said, Eddie was telling him the truth. He was telling Tracy to think about what he is doing. What he did was unnecessary. He is suppose to be the bigger man and not get bothered by a rookie trying to do something to him. He should have just walked it off and let the foul be called. But no, he doesn't do that.
I don't see anything terrible about what Artest did, is he supposed to just allow Pierce to dunk on him? I've seen pretty much every angle of both "Incidents" in the game and I wouldn't blame Artest for any of this. You can cry rough D all you want but what Artest did wasn't even a no call, we wouldn't even be talking about that call if Pierce wasn't selling a shoulder injury after getting blocked. Now the tackling of Allen (not pierce i believe) is a different story but you can't bitch about a no call when even the play by play men for Boston agreed it was a good play.
As far as House goes, Even if he did say that (which I doubt he did...) It doesn't change that fact that he also instigated a situation that was cooled off and like a man was taunting McGrady after he ran and got people between him.
As far as defending Walker, if your going to hate on Artest, hate on Walker for taking a offense to Yao Ming setting a pick on him. I'm sorry but if the kid can't take a soft pick from Yao in stride, he needs to go.

I know good defense is rare these days, but aside from the aforementioned tackling, it was all some pretty damn good defense.
Also your infallible logic strikes again, what does EVERY player do when someones about to dunk or get an easy basket? Oh that's right they foul them. Have you watched more than 3 minutes of basketball in your life? I'm surprised you even know who Red Auerbach is with how outlandishly ignorant some of your statements are.
House isn't diffusing any situation by putting his hands on McGrady, if you think that, refer to your opening paragraph.
