Spartak Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has told the Russian media he is poised to join Tottenham Hotspur.
"I can confirm I'm joining Spurs. Right now I'm getting my visa and as soon as it is ready I will fly to England to sign a contract," he said.
"Everything has happened very quickly so I could not even say goodbye to my team-mates."
Pavlyuchenko added that he would not play for Spartak in their Champions League qualifier on Wednesday.
The club travel to face Dynamo Kiev in the second leg of their third qualifying round and Pavlyuchenko will miss out after he reportedly returned to Moscow for talks with the Premier League club.
BBC Sport understands that the deal is not yet a formality but Spartak's general manager Valery Karpin said his club have accepted a bid from Tottenham.
This could mean Berbatov on his way but I still stand by Spurs sticking to their asking price, I mean why should Fergie always get his way? Stating that you will only go to 25m SHOULDN'T help you, bring on Berba the reserve player.

If they make Berbatov rot in the reserves rather than take a very good offer of £25m, then that is their loss. Surely you do what is in the best interests of the club.
Pavlyuchenko would be good to see in the Prem.

Its their decision, but it is in their interests to sell. Why have an unhappy player on your hands who 'isn't mentally fit to play' when you could have £25m in your pocket?

I am pretty sure this will be resolved anyway. We will probably add in another clause which could make the deal worth £30m, or £30m over a particular length of time.
It is obvious that we would try and get him for cheaper, especially after he said he wanted to leave and Tottenham are trying to bring in other targets. Why would we pay £5m more than we think we need to?

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow.

The 26-year-old arrives at White Hart Lane for a reported fee of £12m.
Pavlyuchenko, who had already confirmed the deal was "practically settled" earlier in the week, was Russia's top scorer at Euro 2008.
He scored three goals as they reached the semi-finals, and also netted twice in a 2-1 win over England in a qualifying match in October 2007.
"Everything has happened very quickly so I could not even say goodbye to my team-mates," Pavlyuchenko said before leaving Russia to sign his contract in London.
"I could not decide if I wanted to go to England at first - first yes, then no," he added.
"The only thing that stopped me from leaving was my family. But now all doubts are behind me and I decided to sign a contract with Tottenham."
Spurs have been searching for a striker as a replacement for Robbie Keane, who joined Liverpool for £20.3m this summer, while Dimitar Berbatov looks set to leave the club before the end of the current transfer window on 1 September.
The Bulgaria striker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.
