Top College Prospects.

Did anyone see that special they had on ESPN this weekend?

It is similar to the QB challenge they do in the offseason for the NFL but it was for QB's and WR's.

I gotta tell you that I dont follow college football much if at all. I know the top guys and the major names going into draft day, but all in all I just hear the names but can't evaluate them for myself.

Here is what I saw from this weekends competition.

Vince Young may be dumb as a freaking rock, but my goodness.....He is Fast, accurate and elusive. 3 VERY critical things to help you in the NFL. Even a dumbass like himself looks like he will have no problem fitting into the NFL. Lets hope so because I was very impressed by him yesterday.

Chad Jackson - Holy Jesus Batman. There were 3 WR events and he absolutely SMOKED his competition. I mean it wasnt even close. I have heard that the Patriots have a severe hard-on for this guy and now I know why.

There are talks of the Patriots trading up to 13 with Balitmore to get him unless for some crazy ass reason Vince Young slips to 13. I never see that happening though.

Who are some guys that you are dying to see in the pros this fall? Hook a brother up with some players to keep an eye out for.

Well.. first on Chad Jackson, I agree he's been skyrocketing up the board but I'd be careful with a guy like this. He may very well end up being an awesome pro but the Florida Gators are one of the teams I follow closely in college ball and he was very erratic. Normally, I'd blame it on the coach for not getting him more involved but this even happend after they signed Urban Meyer; he'd disappear from games.

Vince Young was incredible in college and had the best performance I've ever seen when he almost single handedly defeated the Trojans for the national title. Many are afraid of his suspect throwing ability but I don't think he's that bad.. His mobility to me is bettr then Michael Vick because he's more elusive and more poweful then the man from ATL.

Two guys I'm looking at right now.. Most people have this TE from Maryland Vernon Davis pegged at the 6 spot for my team the Niners.. It's been said that the guy is like Jesus Christ in that he can do it all... I've heard he's a better prospect then Shockey, Winslow, etc.. We''ll see.. Niners need all the help they can get.

I'm also interested in QB Jay Cutler from Vanderbilt. He's been grouped in with Young and Matt Leinhart as part of the elite class at QB in the draft and some have him going as high as the top 10. He apparently has a cannon for an arm.. but these guys always scare me. You never hear about them in college and then they come out of nowhere and impress in the combines.

I heard Cutler fumbles constantly and also only won 11 games in 4 years. Granted he wasnt the starter for 4 years (or was he?) but you really need to get some wins under your belt if you want to build your confidence for the NFL.

I saw that TE you mentioned, he looked pretty impressive. Too bad I freaking hate the 49ers. haha

Well.. we need someone :smitten: . Alex Smith looked lost out there last year and has no weapons at all.. Still need a WR though because they can just double the TE if there are no other threats out there..

Back to Jackson, he is most likely the best WR in the draft apart from what I've said so if that's a position you want to fill it still would be a nice selection at 12-17 in the 1st round..

I would love to see the Pats trade up for once.

I mean they constantly trade down. It seems like every year they just stockpile their picks for the next year.

I guess you can do that when you team is stacked, but an impact rookie would be nice for a change. We always seem to have to wait a couple years for them to develop.

I'd probably rate Santonio Holmes (Ohio State) above Chad Jackson, even after Jackson's tremendous workouts. Like Blitz said, Jackson is inconsistent -- not to mention Florida's miserable track record when sending WRs to the pros. Santonio may not be a Larry Fitzgerald- or Andre Johnson-type prospect, but he produced much better than Jackson, and he has all the measurables as well. With regards to Simon's last post, I don't see any way Jackson could come in and be an impact rookie.

I like so many guys in this draft, and with the Packers picking at #5, I love knowing they'll likely get one of them. My first picks are obviously Bush and Mario Williams, but since they probably won't fall to #5, I'd be happy having AJ Hawk or Leinart or Young at #5. Even Ferguson, who I don't think fills a real need, or trading down a spot or two to get Davis, if that's possible.
